  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Soundtrack for Joker 2.
Folie à deux (French for "folly of two"), also known as shared psychosis or shared delusional disorder (SDD), is a rare psychiatric syndrome in which symptoms of a delusional belief, and sometimes hallucinations, are "transmitted" from one individual to another.

I thought of another one I like. The soundtrack to the movie Cadillac Records. About hoe the delta blues came to the big city and became electrified which led to rock and roll. From Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Howlin Wolf, Etta James played by Beyonce I might add with a beautiful rendition of "I would rather go blind". To Chuck Berry and Little Richard and well that led to Elvis.

How a Jewish young man seen past skin color to see the music and a great business opportunity of course. Like all good Jewish men have done lol. Opens a studio for the black artist who no one else wanted and it began the story of rock and roll.

This was not a movie soundtrack but the soundtrack from the series Forgo which was itself a great watch. The music was good as well and I discovered a group I probably would not have through the soundtrack as I don't think Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweat was very commercial.

This was the song I think right at the end of the series. As Fargo was a bit out there so was the music.

This got me into their music

The Last Waltz (1978). I first saw this in jail lol. I had recently turned 18 when it came out. I was young and foolish. This movie stayed with me forever and introduced me to a variety of artist. Or at least made me more aware of their music. I knew Niel Diamond, Dylan, Joni (Big yellow Taxi), also Neil Young. I think I went and seen his movie 'Neil Young & Crazy Horse: Rust Never Sleeps' as a result.

Knew Clapton but was not too much into him. Maybe I was with some of Creams music but did not recognise the greatness. I vaguely knew Muddy Waters and did not relate his music to him lol. Heard Mannish boy but did not realise its roots. Same with Van Morrison. Heard his hits but never appreciated the music.

Same with the Band. I think I heard (the night they drove old Dixie down) when young as it was a hit and got air play. But I was not into them. Didn't appreciate or recognise their music heritage and pedigree and influence on artists I was into like Dylan.

But seeing this movie and the music stayed with me and especially in my own music. Oh did I mention Ringo and Ronnie Woods. They seem to have mingled into the crowd of great musos. It was a great time.

Though I must say in relooking at the final song Dylan is a bit of a hog in not allowing others to sing lol. I think Richard Manuel (piano) is the only one who managed to push in and gets to sing solo. Everyone gathers around him lol. I see Neil Young sort of saying 'whats going on with Dylan taking over' lol. But they were all great and so was their music.

Another movie/doco I seen not too long after the Last Waltz, was "Stop Making Sense". This music seems left field to Dylan and the Band but man this impacted me. Not sure what it was. Maybe a little punk and alternative music mixed with some rythmic blues, even tribal. His band gets right into the grooves.

I think this was almost a new genre in some ways. A fusion. But it sure grabbed my attention lol. I like the wako aspect lol. I think this was a time when there was a lot of experimentation. I watch a doco on Devo and they seemed to be trying to twist punk into modern techno music. But Talking Heads were special and different to all.
