  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Okay. I take back what I said.

Lol. Although technically humans are scientifically classified in the great ape category. Regardless, she played a gorilla.

She was also in an S&M comedy film, believe it or not.

Yes. It was based on the late Anne Rice’s work, which Rosie is a huge fan of.

Now back on topic… ;)

The harassment thing runs both ways. She is still doing Rosie. And Trump is doing Trump. There is no good side or bad side in this situation. Seems equally doled out on both ends.

Trump has the power to detain and harass her at the port of entry. In a couple instances recently, he threatened to revoke her citizenship (of course he has no such power, but he could certainly order the DHS to harass her were she to attend her daughter's graduation. No American citizen deserves that.

She did bring some of this on herself though, right?

There are plenty of anti-Trump celebs (who've been even more vocal than her), who are able to live in the US and attend family functions.

Seems she had just as much of a hand in making a spectacle of herself as "Trump stuff" did.

So she's claiming that her security team advised her that it's too big of a risk to go to Delaware where the graduation was taking place? Delaware hasn't gone for a republican since 1988 when HW Bush beat Dukakis.

To Recap:
So Rosie's story is "Even though I'm a gazillionaire who can afford an armed private security team, I don't feel safe going to a liberal university in Delaware, despite the Bidens -- who were bigger targets of conservative ire -- living there with no issues.

She wasn't "forced to miss it", she missed it to "make a statement" and used the statements of some "yes-men" security consultants as justification.

Hate to nit-pick, but that's not her story. I listened to the podcast. She didn't say anything about not feeling safe. She said her security people were concerned that she'd "rile up Trump's base" (whatever that means).

And we have to take her word for it that any security consultants actually said any such thing.

Even still... I think my point would still apply, there are still more famous, more relevant celebs that are more vocally anti-Trump that are here in the US living their daily lives. So if their presence isn't "riling up the Trump base" in any sort of unique and special way, I fail to see how her presence at a graduation party would.

It's either
A) She's looking to prove a point and grab some headlines
or
B) She has a seriously inflated sense of her own relevance, self-importance, and influence.

Even the far-lefties in my own family don't really care much about what Rosie thinks anymore.

Oh absolutely. I don't know that Rosie ever suggested violence against the President, but off the top of my head, Robert DeNiro, Johnny Depp, Kathy Griffin, Madonna and Joe Biden did.

I vote for both A and B.

Rosie O’Donnell revealed on a recent episode of the “No Filter” podcast (via Entertainment Weekly) that she was forced to miss her daughter’s college graduation due to security concerns regarding her potential return to the United States amid an ongoing feud with Donald Trump. The television icon moved to Ireland after Trump was re-elected president last November.

“My daughter graduated college and I didn’t go back because the security people said to me they didn’t think it was wise,” O’Donnell said. “Because I think Trump will use me to rile his base.”

(continued below)

What does that decision have to do with Trump?

Classy joke for Christian Forums! Making fun of people's weight has always been a standard go to.

I'm surprised Christians would laugh at a joke like that...
Because they tend to be funny
