  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is still higher than the numbers who escape from prisons. Basically, all that goes missing from prison do so when on leave. Can those who are to be deported even go on leave? Also these are not the numbers of those who successfully enter the US illegally.
None of these people successfully entered the US illegally.
How many gottaways were there for August of 2025?

Garcia would be very foolish to give up his freedom in Swaziland, to take the extremely high risk of attempting to eneter the US again. The penalties are more severe for repeat offenders.

The CBP can of course not give a number for those they failed to stop, even if the known border crossing attempts 2025 is only 10% compared with 2024 the number of successful attempts is not zero. My guess is that the hardened would-be criminals are those hardest to deter.

That is why we are building prisons all over the country, Louisiana Lockup, Alligator Alcatraz, Cornhusker Clink, Speedway Slammer, and at least one more that I don't remember the name.
Now I remember the Panhandle Pokey.

There might be more.

Oh wait, it seems I remember them opening up a military base, to accept these criminals, somewhere up north.

I still wonder what ever happened to all of the FEMA concentration camps that so many were up in arms about.

Here are some numbers from early March:

CBP Posts 95 Percent Decrease in Nationwide 'Got-Aways'

I asked you for the August numbers first; but it's clear now that you misspoke.
Interesting, how did they get that number? Still 5889 before the end of march according to that source. Even if they get it down to 50 a day, that is still 18250. So my point still stands. Where do i find the data itself? It's not published on cbp.gov is it?

This is what I found for june "Gotaways fell 90% compared to June 2024." DHS Shatters Nationwide Border Records, Once Again Delivering the Most Secure Border in American History | Homeland Security Still not zero!

Are you asking me to do your homework, to make your argument; after I debunked your argument?

Your own post said, 5889 so far this year (after clicking on the link to the twitter post). And obviously it was not zero in june either. So the number has increased since then. I don't care for august especially.
I see. You can't back up your assertion once again.

In my own post I indicated that that report was released in early March. The numbers have been trending downward; and the BBB is in its' infancy of being implemented. I doubt that Garcia will swim back from S. Africa before the wall is built, and all of the surveillance technology is installed. If he manages to pull that off, and happens to be one of the small minority who might slip through; we have his number. I'm sure that the Feds will quickly track him down. I suppose that they will be tracking him for the rest of his life; since he is part of a terrorist organization.

I'm not worried.

11000+ so far. What assertion did I fail to back up? Ok, someone estimates the number of gotaways. My bad! How does it change the original argument, that you find it an acceptable risk that criminals come back to the US?

What percentage of those were repeat offenders?

What assertion did I fail to back up?
You asserted that the number for August was not zero; and you have no proof to back that assertion.

How does it change the original argument, that you find it an acceptable risk that criminals come back to the US?
The same way you find it acceptable to keep the risk, of criminals escaping into the general public, right here at home.

In case it wasn't made crystal clear before; again, I'm not worried about the slim possibility that he might risk sneaking in again without getting caught.

That said, if he is here at home; we cant take a page from the Obama playbook, and smoke this member of a terrorist organization with a drone.

Ok, but most estimates of the number of escapees dwarf in comparison to the the number of gotaways. From statista it seems to be in the low single thousands up to 2019 Number of escapees from prisons in the U.S. 2019| Statista The proportion that is recaptured seems very high also: 70%+ within 1 week.

How many of the escapees were foreign nationals and repeat offenders?
I don't see the relevance of your question. What percentage of the escapees were foreign nationals; and how does that compare to the percentage of the prison population that is composed of foreign nationals? Let's start there.

If you would like to make an argument that is backed up with some facts; I'll entertain it...irrational fears founded in speculation...notsomuch.

The Guardian reviewed GlobalX deportation flights as well as government detention data and interviewed attorneys, advocates, former officials and immigrants who have been through the system. The analysis has revealed that:

  • GlobalX carried out more than 1,700 flights for Ice, the vast majority of them between domestic US airports. The airline transported nearly 1,000 children, including nearly 500 children under the age of 10, and 22 infants.
  • For many immigrants, the flight paths were long, with multiple legs and layovers. Nearly 3,600 people were moved around repeatedly, forced to board five or more GlobalX flights.
  • Immigrants were also moved between detention facilities more than before. The average number of transfers per person has markedly increased in the past six months, and some detained immigrants have been moved as many as 10 or 20 times.
  • Detainees were moved around the US without notice, to locations far from their families, communities and legal counsel – leading to apparent violations of constitutional due process rights.
  • Along their journeys, immigrants say they were repeatedly kept in the dark about where they were going. Some say they were threatened by immigration agents with long-distance transfers and separation from their families if they did not accept voluntary deportation.
“It just seems so fundamentally inhumane,” said Sirine Shebaya, executive director of the National Immigration Project, a non-profit legal advocacy group. “The administration is using the system to make it as prohibitively cruel as it possibly can for the people going through.”

Not sure what this has to do with Garcia yet; but carry on. It will be interesting to see what this has to do with the topic of the thread.

It's awesome how this administration is prioritizing recovering the 470,000 children that the previous administration lost to be subjected to prostitution, sexual abuse, sweat shops, drug overdoses, suicide, and even worse, murder.

Under the Trump administration, 22,638 unaccompanied children have been located so far, and more than 400 sponsors have been arrested. Twenty-seven of the minors were found dead, either by murder, suicide or drug overdose, according to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS.)

God bless Trump for putting together a team to recover these children!

I'm happy that you found that post informative; but you might want to review it one more time.

How terribly inconvenient; but hey, it sure beats walking back to Guatemala, the same way they got here!
