House won’t act to extend Trump’s DC police takeover​

House leaders do not plan to hold a vote to extend President Donald Trump’s temporary takeover of the D.C. police before it expires next week, according to three people granted anonymity to describe internal planning.

Senate Republicans aren’t expected to give an extension a vote, either.

[Mayor] Bowser on Wednesday called for the end of the police takeover, which Trump invoked under a provision of the 52-year-old law granting limited local autonomy to the District government.

When the president's authority expires... will the takeover end?

Looks like we have our answer. That may explain why the DC AG chose to sue, even though the deployment was due to be up in a week.

Some soldiers deserve to be disrespected for their actions. McCain was one of them. Theae soldiers do not. They aren't politicians. They are men and women who are serving thing country and obeying orders. Trump also clarified his remarks. Specifically pointing out McCain was a crap politician. These soldiers in DC serving our country deserve respect and not disparaging.

Neither were the dead soldiers who Trump called suckers and losers politicians. Or are you going to just ignore that? And his comments about McCain had nothing to do with his politics (though I'm sure Trump made them because of them, but they weren't about his politics), unless you'd care to explain how saying he doesn't like people who get captured is about McCains politics?

In the meanwhile, I'll be waiting to hear about you in the news for trying to punch Trump.

Nothing. Just clarifying. I was referring to these soldiers and these circumstances. And if one of these soldiers became a politician like McCain I would have no issues with a disparaging remark or two. If you cant understand, rhen I can't help you.
