  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In summary, there seems to be a pattern of scrutinizing abuses of power for personal financial gain primarily among politicians one opposes, while disregarding similar actions when committed by those one supports. Remarkably, this partiality is now openly exhibited without hesitation or embarrassment in public discourse.

Nope. If you pay attention, you'll see it's already been resurrected.

Do we have any evidence that Ilhan Omar has somehow influenced the wine industry, so that her husband's part ownership of the eStCru LLC winery has gained in value? Doesn't look like it. It's financially troubled and likely to be sold off.

In the case you allude to, a politician has greased the wheels for cryptocurrency while owning several cryptocurrency assets.

The conflicts of interest are alive and well, but it's true that few are interested in discussing them.

Not only have I not seen evidence of her influencing the industry, but I'm not sure they actually own a vineyard. All I could find was a (very) brief story about them coming into possession of a bunch of grapes (I'm legitimately unsure if this story was intended to be true or a joke). Either way, it kinda smells like a small rebranding operation, where they just contract other people to make their booze. The posts on their Facebook and Instagram pages are all really generic and the photos all look like stock photos and/or models.

Well, then there's not much in there to draw attention from your outrage at the corruption, is there? You have the stage virtually to yourself.

I want to know how the assets of a winery jumped to an Omar value of between $1,000,000 to $5,000,000 in her last disclosure. In her previous disclosure she estimated the worth of the assets between $15,000 and $50,000. How in the world did they make so much money when wineries are having a difficult time because of the drop in demand?

Well, they didn't actually make so much money. The income attached to the winery is pretty small.

What led to the re-evaluation of the value of the asset? With crack rightwing pundits on the trail, maybe we'll find out.

We can always fall back on blaming covid for Omar's fortune.

It's a relatively new business. It would make sense that its valuation would grow as it got established. If they're actually moving product, then inventory alone could make up a big chunk of that valuation.

If you look at the income column on the financial disclosures, you'll see that she reported none for two years, less than $1000 the next year, and somewhere between $5k-15k on the most recent one with the high valuation. So she's hardly raking in cash.

That sounds like winemaking the VC way.

Curious - is this the brother she married?

Grok Conversation

In short, while the rumor persists and raises questions about Omar’s personal life, no hard evidence—only speculation and unverified claims—supports the assertion that she married her brother.

Her husband's wealth increased because of his ownership stake in 2 companies that have done very well.

Contextualizing claim Ilhan Omar's net worth jumped from below zero to $30M since joining Congress

Was there something else to attack this Democrat woman of colour over or could we maybe put this silly nonsense to bed.

Conversely, it can also be remembered that this is a woman who is under ALMOST constant attack from nonracist Republicans. I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up a bit of a magnet for fundraising dollars.

You wanna know....? If you REALLY wanted to know you could ask and engage in a conversation.

Do you REALLY believe that because demand is dropping, no winery could possibly be making money? You may not believe it but good quality products get bought often. MAAAAYBE they make a good wine? Has that been looked into as a possible reason?

You WANNA....remain outraged and you'll continue looking for reasons not to trust her.

I imagine we all agree THIS is a GREAT thing though. Bipartisan support...even on CF maybe?
