The Trump administration’s ‘MAHA Report’ cites nonexistent scientific studies

There's new evidence that the White House's “The MAHA Report: Making Our Children Healthy Again” relied in part on scientific research that doesn't exist.
Well, it's been three months. How's it going?

Kennedy's MAHA strategy will not be released to the public immediately

The White House said Monday that it expected the Make America Healthy Again Commission, which President Donald Trump created in February to revamp the nation’s food supply and chronic health outcomes, to send the strategy to the president Tuesday, as required by an executive order.

However, spokesperson Kush Desai added that it will take more time to coordinate officials’ schedules to release the report to the public.

Industry groups and Kennedy devotees have lobbied heavily to affect what’s in the closely watched document

[GOP Sen] Cassidy received a number of assurances from Kennedy as a condition of voting in favor of his confirmation, including that he would not dismantle the nation’s vaccine safety systems or take down government vaccine guidance. But Cassidy quickly put out a statement Tuesday clarifying that he isn’t necessarily seeking to haul Kennedy to testify in front of his committee now because he suspects bad intent.

GOP Health chair Bill Cassidy vows Senate oversight after CDC shake-up

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, says the departures of several high-level officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including Director Susan Monarez, “will require oversight.”

Cassidy, who cast a pivotal vote to confirm Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., in February, supported Kennedy’s controversial nomination after receiving his assurance that he would not dismantle the nation’s vaccine safety systems.

Demetre Daskalakis, who resigned as the agency’s top respiratory illness and immunization official, said the CDC had reached an “unfettered situation where undue influence and ideology would drive the science.”

...
In an interview with The Post, Daskalakis said Kennedy’s tenure has been “death by a thousand cuts” for U.S. public health and that Monarez’s ouster eliminated a key guardrail.

“Our science is going to be compromised and that I can’t really guarantee its quality or its veracity because of the way that the ACIP is being refashioned,” said Daskalakis, who published a scathing resignation letter on Wednesday.

The White House on Thursday selected a top deputy of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to serve as acting head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention after a clash over vaccine policy ended in the departure of several agency leaders, according to two people familiar with the decision.

Quacks are now in charge of both the DHS and CDC.....

[....it's a good thing I live mere hours from Mexico....since my country is abandoning science-based public health, our only option for vacines in the future may be south of the border. ]

Senate committee leaders ask RFK Jr. to testify on HHS overhaul

The HELP Committee’s top Republican is describing his invitation to the HHS secretary as routine amid mass layoffs at the agency.

Just like Supreme Court candidates assuring senators that Rowe v Wade was established law. Unfortunately people lie in these hearings. In both cases we could tell from their record that it was unlikely that they were telling the truth. The Senators involved surely knew that.

....I don't find any humor in the fact that this regime is literally dumbing down our public health policy. We're held hostage to a man who is a vaccine denier and fails to backup any of his beliefs with science. If this country continues down this path, I will most certainly find another country that still believes in science. Good luck to the rest of ya!

"I am unable to serve in an environment that treats CDC as a tool to generate policies and materials that do not reflect scientific reality and are designed to hurt rather than to improve the public’s health. The recent change in the adult and children’s immunization schedule threaten the lives of the youngest Americans and pregnant people. The data analyses that supported this decision have never been shared with CDC despite my respectful requests to HHS and other leadership. This lack of meaningful engagement was further compounded by a “frequently asked questions” document written to support the Secretary’s directive that was circulated by HHS without input from CDC subject matter experts and that cited studies that did not support the conclusions that were attributed to these authors. Having worked in local and national public health for years, I have never experienced such radical non-transparency, nor have I seen such unskilled manipulation of data to achieve a political end rather than the good of the American people. I find it amazing that people believed the the CDC was in any way objective and free from , ahem, "undue influence and ideology" before RFK Jr. got involved.

The responses on X to the resignation post above say it all. The CDC has frittered away its credibility, so these protestations of not reflecting "scientific reality" ring hollow when the CDC was literally telling people that a cloth mask made out of your old T-shirt would reduce your odds of being infected by >50%, a ludicrous, laughable claim that was manipulated into reality by a telephone questionnaire.

I have no idea why the CDC dug in its heels on such foolishness, but they're reaping what they've sown. The "science" behind masking and the recommendations to vaccinate and boost (and boost, and boost, and boost, and boost) every living, breathing thing indiscriminately was devoid of any kind of scientific reason. Nuance was always the way, not blanket mandates. They have earned their distrust.

So it's a bit rich to hear their self-righteous. oh woe is me, I can't "follow the science™" bloviating rants now, when they didn't seem to mind putting their good name on garbage "science" for years during the pandemic.

Yea, yea. I've heard your mask screed over and over. Maybe some day you'll recover from the mask trauma.

If you want to trust RFK.....that is your choice.

Yea, yea. I've heard your mask screed over and over.

I know you don't want to discuss it, because it demonstrates just how shoddy the "science" has been at CDC. Ditto with vaccine mandates. I don't know why people pretend like the evidence-poor mandates are not directly related to this current moment. They absolutely are.

Why do you trust these agencies? What do they have to do to convince you that they're totally captured? I don't trust RFK Jr either, but my distrust of the CDC was borne out of the CDC's own evidence-poor decisions. That's why I find it laughable that they're whining about "scientific reality" now.
