Ah - that's it. It's all a conspiracy from the UN and Hamas - and Australians want to support terrorists - or something.
Got it!
Yeah - that UN sure can't be trusted for anything - and none of it's departments have smart people at all!
Israel haven't run an illegal apartheid system for decades, swallowed up more land illegally for decades, and marketed their weapons as 'battle tested' for decades.
Israel haven't banned international journalists from Gaza - and recently shot up journalists on that hospital balcony.
Nothing to see here! Move along! Move along!

More than half a million people in Gaza are trapped in famine, marked by widespread starvation, destitution and preventable deaths. FAO, UNICEF, WFP and WHO reiterate call for immediate ceasefire and unhindered humanitarian access to curb deaths from hunger and malnutrition.

“The worst-case scenario of famine is currently playing out in Gaza,” UN-backed food security experts said on Tuesday, in a call to action amid unrelenting conflict, mass displacement and the near-total collapse of essential services in the war-battered enclave.

Before any discussion makes sense it's good to declare where you stand on your support for the legitimacy of the State of Israel as a safe home country for the Jews. I do support that but do you? That position will unavoidably create a bias in any discourse.
Secondly, neither your original post nor my reply referred to Australia, so I don't understand why you table that.
But I do think indeed, based on evidence from the past years, that the UN and obviously Hamas' info cannot be trusted as both have substantial anti-Israel bias. UNWRA had been deeply compromised and the UN have demonstrated very selective protest/outrage for e.g. the Israel-Hamas conflict vs the Syrians/Druze or Yemen vs Israel conflict.
Definitely there is suffering and hunger in pockets of Gaza but I don't think the info I see (apart from the usual suspects) is evidence of widespread famine - and certainly not intentional famine by Israel (other than not willing to feed Hamas).
Based on UN estimates, before 7 Oct 2023 an average of 70-80 food trucks per day entered Gaza. The URL you're referring to from 'doctors without borders' states that on average now only 28 food trucks per day enter Gaza (it doesn't really specify a period). However the latest stats from July 2025 show that e.g. for the 1st half of July the nr of food trucks entering Gaza was just under 100 per day - which is even more than the nr before October 7th. Reports on X this week showed that sometimes at GHF food distribution centres some even leave the food they don't like behind.
MSM like The New York Times and the BBC intentionally have shown photos of alleged malnourished people knowing full well their condition was due to a serious disease. Last week the
BBC aired a message stating a Gazan woman flown to Italy died of malnutrition while it was shown later this woman suffered from leukaemia. The headline has been modified since but the (intentional) neglect of the truth had done its damage (the rectification can be read at the bottom of that article).
Israel has banned international journalists from Gaza indeed - I'm not in their HQs but I guess the reason would be there is a very substantial risk these journalists would die in crossfire as collateral damage. Israel does not target journalists just for being journalists. Your bring up (Israel) 'recently shot up journalists on that hospital balcony' but you omit crucial info:
- the hospital in question was not in use as hospital anymore
- it was known to have been used in the past by Hamas already
- IDF military had spotted a Hamas observation camera on the top floor - their troops were at risk from that
- a tank took out the camera after obtaining permission from a field commander with 2-3 shells
- of the 20 deaths it has been established 6 were known Hamas operatives
One might ask why do neutral journalists hang out with or are up close with Hamas operatives coming to the rescue of wounded at that top floor?
You're talking about decades of apartheid - but in Israel there are 400 Mosques ... how many synagogues or Jews would be able to exist/live safely in Gaza or Judah or Samaria under Hamas or PA rule?
I sincerely regret every single death - civilians and even Hamas alike, and I hope/pray the humanitarian situation in Gaza will further improve. But if you have a better solution for destroying Hamas and ensuring the future safety and existence of the State of Israel (as a safe home for the Jews) I would be happy to know.
