Maybe so. But I notice that repeated attempts by the administration to distract Americans from the issue have failed to make much of an impact so far.
You havent noticed anything. You are projecting your bias into it. Trump would be moving forward with his agenda regardless.
I suspect that if we got the whole story, Trump would be just one of many wealthy people involved in this mess. But I expect that they have already been working to cover their tracks.
You dont have to suspect anything. We all know Trump had been friends with Epstien. And the wealthy who would be listed may try and cover but may face other issues if their name pops up. Also there are other international considerations besides just naming those involved.

Apparently, they have been, for a rather long time. Crime rates in D.C. are a fraction of what they were decades ago.

The WH is eager to deflect attention from Trump's personal problems, but this doesn't seem to be very effective in that effort.
Glad its down from unconscionable to just really bad. Now its down even more thanks to Trumps moves.

Neither the Mayor of D.C. nor I had anything to "admit." It's only common sense that putting bodies on the street will deter crime....at least temporarily....long enough for Trump brag....
Nah, its an admission that his actions have helped. Trump gets to brag if its working. Now if Congress and DC works to continue rhe work by getting bodies on rhe street to enforce rhe laws and get judges who will also do so, then we'll have lasting change.

...and here I thought strong families were the solution to "lasting change." It's far more covenient to blame liberals eh?
Strong families ARE the ultimate way to get lasting change. But government cannot force that to happen. There are are things they can do to encourage it, but it cant force it. We can however in the meantime immediate results by the methods displayed here and as long as it continues we can continue to receive the results.

Sure, Congress should restore the D.C. funding it cut earlier this year.
In the meantime, there was and is no justification for deploying federal forces to the streets of D.C......nor any other city.

There is no "emergency."
There is no "riot".
There is no "rebellion."

The “lasting change” here in context was referring to crime. Would you like to compare liberal run cities crime stats to conservative run cities?
Well, let's take a look...
  • The red state murder rate was 33% higher than the blue state murder rate in both 2021 and 2022.
  • 2022 was the 23rd consecutive year that murder plagued Trump-voting states at far higher levels than Biden-voting states.
  • 8 out of the 10 states with the highest murder rates in 2022 voted for Donald Trump in both 2016 and 2020.
  • From 2000 to 2022, the average red state murder rate was 24% higher than the average blue state murder rate.
  • Red states like Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama are America’s murder capitals and have had the highest three murder rates for 15 of the last 23 years.
  • The excuse that sky high red state murder rates are because of their blue cities is without merit. Even after removing the county with the largest city from red states, and not from blue states, red state murder rates were still 20% higher in 2021 and 16% higher in 2022.
Third Way

Red state cities have higher crime rates because red states have higher crime rates. They have governments that are less effective at preventing crime and people more prone to commit crimes. There are exceptions. Idaho is at blue state levels of crime, while Oregon has more crime than Florida. But the trend is clear.

Why would this be a surprise to anyone?

Not even in the top ten most dangerous U.S. cities:
  1. Memphis, TN
  2. Cleveland, OH
  3. Toledo, OH
  4. Little Rock, AR
  5. Peoria, IL
  6. Springfield, IL
  7. Detroit, MI
  8. Akron, OH
  9. Beaumont, TX
  10. Rockford, IL
  11. Evansville, IN
  12. Dayton, OH
  13. Nashville, TN
  14. Winston-Salem, NC
  15. Springfield, MO
  16. Chicago, IL
  17. Salt Lake City, UT
  18. Springfield, MA
  19. North Charleston, SC
  20. Corpus Christi, TX
  21. Tulsa, OK
  22. Albany, NY
  23. Buffalo, NY
  24. Kansas City, MO
  25. Shreveport, LA
  26. Baltimore, MD
  27. Houston, TX
  28. New Haven, CT
  29. Las Cruces, NM
  30. Lansing, MI

Nine of 30 are blue state cities. Nineteen are red state cities. For reasons we've discussed. Washington isn't even int the top 30 crime cities. But when a deflection is needed, one uses whatever is handy, I suppose.

I have. And I'm not the only American to have noticed:

More than half of voters disapprove of Trump’s handling of Epstein files

I can't say for certain, but I think you're right. But I don't care who is involved. If Bill Clinton and Prince whatshisname were involved in addition to Trump, they should all go to prison with Trump.

Btw, how does "cashless bail" contributed to crime?
It means rich people and poor people are treated the same when accused of crimes. Which obviously offends some folks.

Here is an interesting list. Source AI:
According to FBI UCR-based data (for cities with at least 50K population) as updated in January 2025:

  1. Oakland, CA – 13,793.94
  2. Memphis, TN – 11,277.78
  3. Tacoma, WA – 8,655.11
  4. St. Louis, MO – 7,881.60
  5. Little Rock, AR – 7,257.15
  6. Pueblo, CO – 7,069.40
  7. Detroit, MI – 6,863.19
  8. Denver, CO – 6,791.00
  9. Berkeley, CA – 6,749.86
  10. San Leandro, CA – 6,674.92

Only one of these ten are clearly Republican. Some obscure party affiliation by claiming nonpartisan but a deeper dive reveals truth.
Since my original challenge was comparing liberal run cities to conservative run cities this list is entirely appropriate.

Why do cities in red states tend to have higher crime rates? Because red states tend to have higher crime rates. It's cultural, mostly.

The UCR dataset is voluntary and self-reported. Although most areas comply, there are some differences in how different cities report their data.

nor any other city
I agree due rhe fact that any other city is not DC and has its own rights to run how they want to. Far too many arw run by democrats and have the same or worse problems. But they won't address the issues.

The cast majority of the crime cities are are run by democrats. It doesn't matter whether its a blue state or red state. Its democratic run cities where the biggest problems lie.

Trump is now showing all of them what to do to help.

I disagree and so do a lot of people. Especially now that its proven to have been effective.

Nothing has been proven other than putting more bodies on the street will naturally deter criminal activity for a while. It's not a solution to fighting urban crime.

And it certainly does not justify diverting Federal resources from the rest of the country and deploying the National Guard.

It's all a performance.
