Its because you are. If one was to take a look at socialist policies, which are leftist, the Europeans are staunchly in that camp. So its not based on what something seems like its based upon actual policies and laws and belief systems. Some are further left than others.

Thats because they have succumbed to leftist ideologies and have been there for sometime. One looses sight of where they are if they are and have been living and raised in it. Its the Ole put a frog in water and slowly turn up the heat. The frog will have no idea that its cooking because they get used to it.
Well yes, we are left of the USA. Howevet compared to the whole world, not just Western democracies which I previously used for comparison, I would say that we are central. We are not communist.

What you may not realise is that many of us like it. We appreciate the Welfare State and the NHS. The UK being a small country, its people have always been closely connected: unfairly in the past with the feudal and class systems; hopefully more equably these days. So many of us like governments which look after us all, whilst giving us some scope for our own ideas and initiatives. I would not like to be further right than we are (whichever of our main political parties are in power). So I don't see it as frogs cooking, but as them living together in an environment which aims to help all to flourish and has a few restrictions in order to protect them all.

Israel's military pounded Gaza City on Wednesday prior to a planned takeover, with another 123 people killed in the last day according to the Gaza health ministry, while militant group Hamas held further talks with Egyptian mediators.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated an idea - also enthusiastically floated by U.S. President Donald Trump - that Palestinians should simply leave. "They’re not being pushed out, they’ll be allowed to exit," he told Israeli television channel i24NEWS.

Eight more people, including three children, have died of starvation and malnutrition in Gaza in the past 24 hours, the territory's health ministry said. That took the total to 235, including 106 children, since the war began.

The Israeli military on Wednesday said that nearly 320 trucks entered Gaza through the Kerem Shalom and Zikim crossings and that a further nearly 320 trucks were collected and distributed by the U.N. and international organizations in the past 24 hours along with three tankers of fuel and 97 pallets of air-dropped aid. But the U.N. and Palestinians say aid remains far from sufficient.

Hamas says it is ready to quit Gaza governance for a non-partisan technocratic entity agreed by all Palestinian parties.

If Hamas quits Gaza, leaving a more moderate Palestinian government in charge, with assurances of Israel's right to exist within its own borders, could that be a solution? Of course they would have to return the hostages.

No, you didn't.
U huh.
Unless you can make this determination objectively, and in a way that is consistent internationally, the distinction is meaningless.
I can.
Wow. The arrogance.
Hey, its not arrogance if you are right.
Because it's becoming apparent that you don't actually know what a independent journalist is. An independent journalist is a journalist that works outside of any corporate media company and operates under a clear code of ethics.
Thats silly, I know what an independent journalist is. Just because they are independent doesn't mean they are objective. Were you convinced they are just cause? Their code of ethics could be way out of wack
Megyn Kelly and John Solomon are not independent journalists - they work for Fox and the Washington Times. Neither is Anderson Cooper - he works for CNN.
No they dont.

I could be except it's not want Netanyahu wants. He wants them all gone, and Trump hasn't helped dissuade that (quite the opposite).

When the government pushes the boundaries of those laws and applies them in new and novel ways in order to restrict the freedoms of the country's citizens and residents,
Thats not happening
It certainly can be - depends on how you do it. Again, going over the head of local/state government via unilateral action by the chief executive? That's authoritarian.
No its not, as long as it is within the parameters of the law. And there are NO NEW LAWS that have been passed to allow for that.
The concentration of power in the Executive branch represents a shift towards authoritarianism.
There is no shift to that. No new power has been given to the Executive.
In the interest of fairness, Trump didn't start it - it's been a process going back decades - but he's taking it to new lengths, and he's enabled by Congress and the Supreme Court not acting as checks on his expansion of powers.
What expansion of powers?
I see the Trump administration doing exactly this at the moment, so your accusation rings a bit hollow.
Interesting you werent concerned at all when you guys did it. Suddenly you are concerned now? That rings a bit hollow for sure.

Now they're going to move a million hungry people who have lost everything. They're distributing tents.

“We will face many problems in displacement,” said Mazen Hasaneh, 40, from al-Tuffah neighbourhood, who has been displaced six times during the war. “First, securing a way to transport the necessary items like a tent and other basics, and of course many drivers will exploit people’s desperation and raise prices, while people have no money to pay.

“The second problem is finding a place to set up the tent and settle, along with the difficulty of finding and providing water and food. Everything about displacement is suffering, especially in our current conditions.

Famine has been formally confirmed in Gaza.

Gaza City and surrounding areas are officially suffering from famine, and it will likely spread, a global hunger monitor determined on Friday, an assessment that will escalate pressure on Israel to allow more aid into the Palestinian enclave.
The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification system said 514,000 people - nearly a quarter of Palestinians in Gaza - are experiencing famine, with the number due to rise to 641,000 by the end of September.

Over 80 Orthodox rabbis – including chief rabbis past and present of several countries – signed a petition released on Tuesday urging Israel to address the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza and condemn settler violence in the West Bank.

Calling the crisis in Gaza "one of the most severe in recent history," the rabbis state that Israel is not absolved "from assuming its share of the responsibility for the profound suffering of Gaza's civilian population." They also affirm that Hamas' October 7 attack was "a brutal act that justifiably demanded a strong military response," and called for the release of the hostages.
