Police respond to shooting at south Minneapolis church; multiple victims reported, shooter dead

Richfield police confirmed reports of 20 victims, adding that a man dressed in all black and armed with a rifle was reported at the scene.

Authorities say a suspect has been “contained” after a shooting occurred at a Minneapolis Catholic school on Wednesday morning.

Gov. Tim Walz said on social media that he had been briefed on a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School, located on the city’s south side. Police told local news outlet KARE that an active shooter allegedly opened fire at Annunciation Church.

It’s unclear if students, who had their first day of classes on Monday, were in the church at the time. The pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade school had an all-school Mass scheduled at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to its website.

10:17 a.m.: The Associated Press says five children are being treated at a Minneapolis hospital after being injured in the shooting.

Meanwhile, a DOJ official told Reuters that three people, including the shooter, are dead and about 20 people are injured.

Again, "learning" from it is not banning guns as frankly ( and I do not support it to begin with, but frankly I relealize that that would probably cause more violence than it is worth AKA more than it would prevenrt.

because we are not addressing it correctly we are doing the wrong things. Plus not having God in the schools, but as this area is a secular part of the forum that is really not an issue to hold water.

According to information being released during a live press conference, the shooter had a rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol. Two children ages 8 and 10 have died. There are 17 injured, including 14 children, some critically.

Some additional information from the press conference.

The shooting occurred during mass. The shooter, believed to be in his 20s, barricaded the doors before opening fire through the windows. Dozens of rounds were fired into the building, and it is believed all three weapons were used.

These children's parents probably haven't even been notified they don't have a child anymore, but we're already standing over their still-warm small child's bodies and sliding into chants of "yeah it's sad but limiting my access to guns isn't fair."

sounds like it could have more to about catholic than anything (either that and/or to get more people.

The shooting happened in a religious school during mass. Here's guessing God was being mentioned occasionally during their school day. God in schools clearly has zero to do with it.

A It is likely that we are "too far gone" for limiting access. B if they try it is likely to be more violent ( what we really need is mental health to be addressed background checks help, but reqquire there to be a written record.

I understand that at this point, but in general that is not the case it almost sounds like the school COULD have been targeted for that reason (being Catholic)

I'm not participating in a brainstorming session on how we should continue to keep guns in people's hands after another school shooting where there are yet more dead kids.

It doesn't sound like anything. We don't know motive yet, you're just presuming. And God in schools does not prevent school shootings. It's like saying rain dances prevent tsunamis.
