Dozens of OB-GYNs fled Idaho after its abortion ban. Medicaid cuts could make access to care even worse.

I’m sorry you feel attacked by replies to your posts.
Again, first and foremost this is a Christian forum. Promoting abortion is uncalled for.

Period.

You'd think bringing up abortion when, effectively, your interlocutor can't reply would be goading.
I was told this forum is not a safe space for certain conservative positions. Surely I wasn't given misinformation or even *GASP* lied to was I?

That's an agreeable arrangement.

I'm by no means a hardline pro-life person by any stretch...

However, I'm okay with the following
- Universal background checks and waiting periods for firearm purchases
- Additional early childcare funding
- Expanded healthcare access
- Expanded no-cost contraception
- Paid family leave for new mothers

...but, there needs to be some sort of good faith gesture from the hardline pro-choice crowd that they'd be willing to make some concessions, and not just immediately keep doing the same things, using the same "clump of cells" talking points, and continuing to treat elective abortions as a "get out of responsibility free card" the moment they get the gun and social safety net policies they wanted.

The measures listed above along with legislative measures that would return the situation back to the "safe, legal, and rare" framework of the 90's would need to be a package deal.

The pro-life crowd would be right to be skeptical of conceding on those gun and safety provisions without it.

I say that because the states that are most ardently pro-choice already have those things, and still portray it as if it'd be a return to Handmaid's Tale if elective abortions get capped at 16 weeks.
What is pro-life about guns?

Nope! That’s not how that works.

There is no goading.

You said it three times.

I’m well aware that only one side of the debate is allowed to state their case and do not need to randomly reminded of that multiple times.
Fine. We are all aware.

Peace

Life long celibacy, clearly not something anyone would struggle with.
Lots of right wing people are life long celibate and very vocal about it.

Promoting abortion on a Christian forum is against the TOS. Period.
Is it fun to have a discussion where the other side can't respond without fearing moderator action?

Also, Christianity is meant to be countercultural, but this post isn’t about Christianity.
Christianity hasn't been counter-cultural in the western world since Constantine the Great.

This thread isn't about Christianity, though.

What is pro-life about guns?
As a stand-alone issue, not much.

However, a common thread in political discourse that's always presented (that was brought up in this thread, which the post I was replying to) is

"Well, if you actually cared about stopping the killing of children and preventing abortions, you'd be in favor of..."

And then the things they typically list out are gun control measures, and some expansions of the social safety net and contraception access...

I'm was just simply pointing out that while those measures generally have a big plurality of support, in places where they've been passed, the ardent pro-choice people don't seem to move an inch off of their position, and the impacts of those social safety nets on actual abortion rates tends to be negligible.

Which means that if they're not actually serious about the "mutual" part of "mutual concessions", then it's probably best not to even float the notion in the first place.

Who writes the laws? Not the voters
In a roundabout way, they do.
I’m very much aware. But a viable pregnancy shouldn’t be aborted because the child is unwanted. That’s beyond cruel and selfish.
I can make a persuasive argument that an embryo isn't a child or a human being, but then we'd be drifting into perilous territory. Note I'm correcting your misuse of terminology here.
I’m aware birth control exists, and it’s not always effective. Period, again? Don’t want to 100% be a parent? Don’t have sex. It’s not that difficult.
That's not your decision to make.
It’s about protecting the most innocent.
As I've shown above, that doesn't appear to be a real concern, judging by the lack of action to reduce miscarriages, school shootings, and infant mortality.
