After serving in the White House, Bolton wrote a scathing book that portrayed Trump as grossly ill-informed about foreign policy.

Coming from Bolton, I don't know if "this guy don't know anything about how to do foreign policy" should be seen by the rest of us as a bad thing or good thing about Trump's approach to foreign policy.

Given that Bolton is one of the few people out there still defending the decision to invade Iraq, and still defends every regime change effort that's happened since the 90's.

And he may be the only one I've heard advocate for what he calls "a three state solution" (but where none of the 3 is Palestine), in which Gaza and the West Bank cease to exist, and those territories get strategically divided up between Israel, Egypt, and Jordan...

Depending on what comes out in the coming days as far details... this one has a high probably of creating some strange bedfellows alliances.

...which of course has no bearing on whether justice is being served. I disagree with most of Bolton's foreign policy views....but in the end, he has rights too. We'll have to wait to see what new evidence the government has....but for now, this stinks of a prosecution driven by revenge.

[Bolton's most recent "sin" was stating Trump was manuipulated by Putin....which obviously, IMO, is true.]

Not fun when the shoe is on the other foot. I would argue that this was the biggest reason why so many political elites tried so desperately to keep Trump from going back into the office. Because he would go after all the people who did a lot of illegal stuff to protect their corruption.

...in the days leading up to raid on Bolton's home:

Until Aug. 13, Bolton had not been a target of Trump’s social media attacks for seven months — since before Trump’s inauguration in January. That changed just over a week ago, when Trump became angry at a quote from Bolton and fired off a post on Truth Social expressing his frustration.

“Putin has already won,” Bolton told The Atlantic in a story that published Aug. 12, ahead of Trump’s meeting with the Russian president in Alaska. “He is the leader of a rogue state, and he’ll get a picture on U.S. soil with the president of the United States.” The message was similar to one Bolton repeated in television appearances and on social media around the same time.

“Very unfair media is at work on my meeting with Putin,” Trump posted the morning after the Atlantic story published. “Constantly quoting fired losers and really dumb people like John Bolton, who just said that, even though the meeting is on American soil, ‘Putin has already won.’ What’s that all about? We are winning on EVERYTHING.”

That same day in the White House, a senior White House official blasted the piece, dismissing it as a story that had been sourced to anonymous European officials and saying that Trump was far more prepared for the Putin encounter than other presidents had been going into similar meetings.

Four days later, in a Sunday night Truth Social post, Trump again pointed a finger at Bolton, saying he was among the “stupid people” who were making it “much harder” for Trump to end the war by criticizing his approach to Putin.\
