ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — An illegal immigrant has been arrested in connection with a deadly crash on Florida's Turnpike on Tuesday.
Troopers said a semi-truck tried making a U-turn in an "official use only" area, causing a minivan to crash into the truck. All the people inside the minivan died. The victims were identified as a 30-year-old man from Florida City, a 37-year-old woman from Pompano Beach and a 54-year-old man from Miami.
The pickup truck driver, Harjinder Singh, has now been charged with three counts of vehicular homicide. At the time of the crash, a 25-year-old passenger was in the cabin with Singh. Officials said Singh entered the US illegally by crossing the U.S.-Mexico border in 2018.
