President Trump is not breaking the law - nor the Constitution - he is acting within his authority to bring in the National Guard to assist police, who are 700 officers short after the Democratic Mayor slashed funding for the police department. Yes, I realize my comments do not serve your narrative....nor the narrative of the White House.
However, what I stated is common sense.

Once more, if the White House actions were sincere and guided by data, they would be focussed on Memphis, not Washington DC. We all know highlight a single crime in D.C. is nothing more than excuse for Trump to deploy the military as a tool of political intimidation. D.C. residents see right through it...as do many Americans.

THe point is, American soldiers have no business performing civilian police work. But hey, if you want America to appear like some Latin American country where armed soldiers on the streets is not unusual, so be it. It's not the America I know.

I think that's exactly what is wanted. Trump is putting on a show--Law Enfocement Theater. If he was serious about crime there would be federal officers and troops in SE.

I dont buy that though. Nobody has pointed to a sudden change in policy. Yes there are crimes they don't track t same way but so long as they have been collecting data rhe same way over that time the drop would be consistent.

Randy Manner, a retired National Guard major general, said he believed the deployment is a step towards Trump sending National Guard troops into other Democratic-led cities.

"Not in our lifetimes has a president said that I'm going to use uniformed soldiers to reduce crime," Manner told Reuters.

"There will be soldiers in other cities in the not-too-distant future. We're turning this into a militarized environment, and it's extremely sad."
