"While Jesus demonstrated profound patience and self-control, especially in moments of great personal agony, such as in the Garden of Gethsemane where He instructed His disciples to "watch and pray" despite their exhaustion and sleepiness , there are instances in the Gospels where He expressed clear frustration and impatience with His disciples. This frustration stemmed from their repeated failure to understand His teachings, their lack of faith, and their self-serving ambitions.
For example, after Jesus had fed the 5,000 and the 4,000, He confronted His disciples for failing to grasp the significance of these miracles, asking them, "When I fed the 5,000 with five loaves of bread, how many baskets of leftovers did you pick up afterward?" and "And when I fed the 4,000 with seven loaves, how many large baskets of leftovers did you pick up?". This scolding highlighted their spiritual blindness despite witnessing abundant provision. Similarly, when the disciples argued about who was the greatest among them, Jesus found this "maddening" , and He rebuked Peter harshly when Peter tried to dissuade Him from suffering, calling him "Satan" and stating, "For you are setting your mind not on divine things but on human things"."
