Trump goes after mail-in voting and election machines; "States are merely an “agent” for the Federal Government", must do what President says

It's populist, which is a bit ironic given populism normally represents the common citizens against a self-serving elitist ruling class. In this case, MAGA has done a really good job of convincing the voters that both parties were that corrupt self-serving class, and only a very rich narcissist can save them.

America could very much use a conservative party again. You have some left in the GOP (Nikki Haley for example) but many more are leaving every election (Tom Tillis, GOP Senator from NC).
The current Republican Party has no place for conservatives such as Tom Tillis, Nikki Haley, and even Mike Pence, who received less than 5% of the GOP primary vote.

If W. Bush ran for office today, GOP voters would label him a socialist who would give amnesty to all the undocumented.

Agreed. It's quite a quandary also, as starting a new viable party is next to impossible given the stranglehold the Dems and GOP have on the election process and turning the GOP back towards being conservative looks very unlikely in the near term. So we are left with, well, the left or a poorly constructed populist political party as our choices.

Nonsense. I have consistently supported machines that produce human readable paper receipts.

The few places where no receipt is available are largely in 'red' states: Oklahoma, Louisiana, Tennessee, Indiana.

(Actually, clicking to the 2026 map, it looks like it's just Oklahoma, Louisiana and a couple counties in Texas.)
Yet. Here you are on this form thread complaining about TRUMP making elections safer and more secure.

Getting rid of machines or mail-in voting does nothing to make voting safer or more secure. Trump is not even claiming that it does (apart from lies about what other countries have done). His beef seems to be that elections need to be called on election night. Maybe he should look into allowing states to count ballots as they are received, rather than having to wait to count them last after the election day ballots are counted.

Too many Americans are voting for Republicans to win in 2026. It's as simple as that.

And, this administration obviously knows it.

Now, all of a sudden, democrats are opposed to safe and secure elections with a fail safe paper votes.
They're not fail safe.
Talk about always going to the 20% of an 80-20 issue. Why? Because Trump, that's why. Democrats do not like this because this is exactly why we had President Bush instead of President Gore. Why? Because there was actual paper ballots that had to be physically counted by actual people.
Bush won in 2000 because the overseas military ballots that were mailed after election day, but not postmarked.

[I'm not seeing a provision for the Executive Branch to manage elections....]

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!!!

States rights! Separation of Powers!
Not surprising that the post Trump made is full of lies.

There has been no evidence of fraud via mail in ballots. There are checks on it. Dozens of countries use mail in ballots.
No, Trump can't dictate what states must do regarding elections. An EO cannot overrule the state laws on elections per the Constitution which he rarely seems to consult.

Putin sure knows how to trigger and manipulate Trump.

It also seems a tad suspicious that they'd object to a system that makes it harder to rig an election.

You mean a system that takes much longer to count, and is far more prone to human error? Why would anyone have a problem with that??

But, as to rigging an election, that already seems a lot harder to do than some might wish to suggest. Especially in view of the fact that no one has ever been able to prove any such thing happened on any significant scale.

He says go back to the original more failsafe system and do what other democracies have already done. Oh my the totalitarian horror of it all.

Other Western democracies have (generally) expanded mail in voting since the pandemic. It's certainly easier in Australia to vote by mail than it was 6 years ago.

Obviously the tank will have to go door to door.
No, people will just go to a voting booth, punch holes in a card, and then drop it in a box. Going on about tanks and the like comes off as crazy talk.

Voting has never been any more difficult than going to a grocery store. Democrats made up all kinds of nonsense about black people supposedly being incapable of doing what everyone else is capable of. They're supposedly incapable of getting an ID and they're supposedly incapable of going anywhere or getting anywhere. Therefore voter ID and voting booths are supposedly a sinister republican plot to keep black people from being able to vote.
