Being here illegally is a crime.
Innocent until proven guilty, remember? We certainly heard that a lot back when Trump was charged with 34 felonies.

sorry “signs” are not proof, and one instance is one city is not pr00r either. Authoritarianism is system wide, not in just a smattering of places

It's an evolving system before our eyes. Some chose to deny what is in plain sight.

six years ago
Last month...in L.A.
91% of low income residents want more police presence.

Great, so fund more police officers in D.C.! The Mayor has noted she wants to fill 700 open positions. The National Guard are not the Police. Nor are ATF, ICE or any other federal officer.

cite the quote
"Well, if it's a national emergency, we can do it without Congress, but we expect to be to Congress -- before Congress very quickly. And again, we think the Democrats will not do anything to stop crime, but we think the Republicans will do it almost unanimously. So, we're going to need a crime bill that we're going to be putting in and it's going to pertain initially to DC. It's almost -- we're going to use it as a very positive example.

And we're going to be asking for extensions on that, long-term extensions because you can't have 30 days. 30 days is -- that's, by the time you do it -- we're going to have this in good shape. And don't forget, in the border, everyone said it would take years and you'd have to go back to Congress. I never went to Congress for anything.

I just said close the border and they closed the border and that was the end of it. I didn't go back to Congress. We're going to do this very quickly, but we're going to want extensions. I don't want to call a national emergency. If I have to I will. But I think the Republicans in Congress will approve this pretty much unanimously."

"If I have to I will".

Like I said, he's doing this in plain sight.

He's already begun purging the Smithsonian of real history? Oh, no!
I hope the last true public servants we had were prudent enough to keep records from the disbanding departments, etc. so that after Trump's "cultural revolution" (aka demolition) we can get back to normal. With scientists curing diseases instead of quacks threatening our health. With consumer protections instead of rapacious oligarchs. With education instead of indoctrination. With PBS and NPR instead of a game show host playing Gong Show in the Kennedy Center.

EXCLUSIVE: U.S. Office of War Information Debunks Media Lies about 'Concentration Camps' For Citizens Of Japanese Decent

FDR and the Democrats were wrong to intern American citizens without due proces, and about 2/3 of those interned were citizens.

"The federal government contended that its decision to exclude
ethnic Japanese from the West Coast was justified by "military ne-
cessity." Careful review of the facts by the Commission has not re-
vealed any security or military threat from the west coast ethnic
Japanese in 1942. The record does not support the claim that mili-
tary necessity justified the exclusion of the ethnic Japanese from
the West Coast, with the consequent loss of property and personal
liberty.
The decision to detain followed indirectly from the alleged
military necessity for exclusion. No one offered a direct military
justification for detention; the war Relocation Authority adopted
detention primarily in reaction to the vocal popular feeling that
people whom the government considered too great a threat to re-
main at liberty on the west coast should not rive freely elsewhere.
The WRA contended that the initial detention in relocation centers
was necessary for the evacuees' safety, and that controls on
departure would assure that the ethnic Japanese escaped mistreat-
ment by other Americans when they left the camps. It follows,
however, from the commission's conclusion that no military ne-
cessity justified the exclusion that there was no basis for this detention."

The Japanese-American internment camps were often nothing more than makeshift barracks, with families and children cramped together behind barbed wires. Most of the internees were U.S. citizens from the West Coast who were forced to abandon or liquidate their businesses when war relocation authorities escorted them to the camps.
John Tateishi says the experience was both humiliating and disorienting. "We came out of these camps with a sense of shame and guilt, of having been considered betrayers of our country." He says that after the war most families never spoke about it. "There were no complaints, no big rallies or demands for justice because it was not the Japanese way."

I've got more debunking videos from official government sources.

I agree, and I won't even limit that to US citizens.

Though, it should be noted that the order to intern them was an executive order, not a vote in Congress, so responsibility falls solely on Roosevelt, not on the Democratic party. Also, while we may now disagree with the order, the SCOTUS did uphold the constitutionality of the order by the end of the war.

FDR was the elected Democrat, both houses of Congress were controlled by the Democrats, and in the Senate they had a super majority. Congress could have acted but instead they backed FDR.

Sure. There was a war on, after all. So why single out democrats? Did no republican back FDR or the war?

It's not "the media" reporting the truth about Alligator Alcatraz. It is a delegation of Congressmen, mostly Democratic, who by law are permitted to visit these prison facilities.

These are "my" Congressmen, since I don't have any Congressmen in my own state who represent the priorities and values I cherish. I trust their reports implicitly because I know that they are looking at these facilities with eyes that are not tainted with xenophobia and hate.

8 US Code 1325:

(a)Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection; misrepresentation and concealment of facts
Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.
Innocent until proven guilty - Their presence is direct evidence of guilt. It's really an obvious thing - the due process is then described. There it is - plain as day.

Even those who are indicted with overwhelming evidence, like the current president, sometimes get lucky (although the lucky ones usually have an abundance on money and connections). There was plenty of direct evidence of guilt against the current president, and the documented possession of hundreds of boxes of highly classified and even top secret material in MarALago was open and shut, but yet he got due process, and after spending $100 million on lawyers and handpicking a Supreme Court, he wiggled out of trouble.

Why shouldn't immigrants get the same due process?

That's not how due process works.

It's really an obvious thing - the due process is then described. There it is - plain as day.
So let them have their day in court with legal representation, just like any other accused defendant. If we held to the standard you're suggesting here, Donald Trump would have been jailed immediately upon being accused. His crimes were no less obvious, but he still had his day in court and due process before his guilt was proven.

-- Always in His Presence, good to see you supporting our constitution and laws.
Always have, always will.

-- A2SG, would that our chief executive had the same respect or support for it....

So how do you get 700 open positions filled? How do you propose getting 700 people to move to DC and be police officers?

How do you propose getting judges to stop releasing criminals back onto the street.

The NG aren't police. They aren't arresting people for committing crimes. But its performing their legal duties.

Starts with Congress restoring the funding it cut from the D.C. budget.
