Federal agents have hunted for guns and stolen vehicles, conducted drug busts and chased down members of the public who ran when approached. Some agents could be seen pulling over cars for minor infractions, or reminding people at a sobriety checkpoint to wear their seatbelts.
A typical action played out early on Friday morning, when a D.C. police officer pulled over a Toyota in the Carver Langston neighborhood in the city’s Northeast quadrant. The traffic stop was initiated in front of a discount clothing store, where a brigade of federal agents was sitting in the parking lot in about a dozen unmarked cars.
As soon as the car was pulled over, the federal officers — from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and several other agencies — gathered around it, blocking off two lanes of traffic and a streetcar track for about 10 minutes before telling the driver that he was free to leave.
Criminals in the rest of the country must be elated.

Yay a street dweller just smashed my windshield. Which is going to cost me $300 to replace. Those poor victims sure do a lot of victimizing. This one looks like it was pure vandalism. Rather than the usual smashing side windows to rob cars for drug money. I figure anyone who's heart bleeds over crackdowns hasn't ever been victimized by them.

I'm sorry that happened to you. These people absolutely need to be removed. I hope we can open up places again where the mentally ill can be housed and tg e addicted can be placed to get cleaned up. Both those options would clean up about 75% of the homeless problems. What dramatic effect that would have on our streets.

That doesn't seem to work out very well unfortunately. If they're given free rooms in a hotel, the hotel gets completely trashed. Shelters have to have rules they don't want to follow. Rounding them up against their will and locking them away in a forced rehab facility isn't appealing.
At least I was able to get a rush job done on the windshield. Which was good because of course it's raining today. And at least the driver side was intact enough for me to drive over to the place. What's ironic is it happened right where the police station and city hall is located so there were lots of witnesses and the cops caught him immediately. He was probably too stoned to take any of that into consideration. And I do feel sorry for him. Requesting prayers for the fellow.

Nope a good analogy and good point. Going from an extreme emergency to a significant emergency still means something needs to be done. The emergency isnt over just because it's not as bad as it once was. Beating your wife 10 times a day and dropping it to 6 times a day doesn't mean there's NOT a critical need to intervene.
But you new the point and still refused to address it.

How is a declining crime rate "an emergency?"

Ive seen what they've done when just giving out free space. They destroy it.
I think all the mentally ill ought to be placed in a facility where they can receive mental health help and meds if needed. For those who could be on medication and still function in society they could have freedom to come and go as long as they take their meds.
For those who refuse or are incapable then they are locked in and have to stay.
The addicted would forced to stay and receive treatment. As long as they stay clean then they can be released. If they become homeless again due to addiction then they are brought back.
I would also work with community colleges and vocational schools to help them get some job skills and assist them with finding work.
Those that just want to live homeless, fine. But I wouldnt allow them to camp anywhere but on public forest land or BLM land or something. Stay out of the towns and cities. No sleeping, camping or taking a dump on the sidewalk.
The temporarily homeless, like those who just lost a job and are actively seeking, I would help them with a motel room. But I would be all over them to make sure they are looking for work and applying for work.

Maybe Im a rapist who rapes 10 times a day and now its only 6. I guess its thats a great improvement and we dont really need to do much about it. After all its not an emergency because its better than 10?
If a fire is raging and is burning 100 thousand acres thats an emergency. But if if it slows down to 50 thousand its not anymore?
Give me a break. A serious problem can still be a serious problem even if its not as bad as it was at its peak.
If I started breaking your fingers at a rate of 3 per day and then dropped it to 1 per day you and you couldnt do anything about it, would still want someone to intervene because its a serious problem.
This whole idea that hey its better than it was at its peak so no need for anything to be done is ludicrous.

No he didn't. No one was charged with being a traitor or actually colluding with Russia to influence the election.
What they caught were people who lied or people who committed fraud of some sort.
I suppose if you were looking for liars ir fraudsters Russiagate was a success. If you were looking to get people for colluding with Russia to influence the election it was a failure.
