Didn't happen - they edited it on Wednesday -
Good grief. This is getting almost as bad as extracting meaning from ancient religious texts.
The original article was posted on Tues, Aug 5, and referenced a meeting to take place on Wed, Aug 6. That article was updated in the morning of Wed, Aug 6, and by then the article (which I believe was not further edited) was referring to a meeting CNN (and other news outlets) had information would take place at the USNO on the evening of Wed, Aug 6.
Now why did they say "Wed" instead of "tomorrow" in the original or "today" when it edited on Wed morning is that relative timing can be confusing, particularly about articles describing the near future. Even when it was posted originally, it was already Aug 6 in some parts of the world. If they had meant Aug 13 (the current "today", thought I believe Aug 14 just started in some places) they would have said "next Wednesday" (especially when posted on a Tues night as this was) or used today's date (Aug 13), or both.
CNN is not a daily newspaper with a clear publication date on the edition. (If a newspaper article says "tomorrow" and I want to know what day they are talking about I read the paper's date from the top even if it is 100 years old.) Nor, is a CNN . com article part of a news broadcast made at a specific time. If the reporter had gone on one of CNN's evening shows they would have said (and likely did) "tomorrow".
At some point (the 5th, 6th, or 7th), VP Vance responded to a reporter's question in the Oval Office about if there was to be (or had been) such a meeting at the USNO and Vance told one of those "lies of omission" by stating (technically true) something to the effect of there would be (or wasn't) no meeting at the USNO on Epstein strategy. Obscuring that the meeting would (or did) take place *AT THE WHITE HOUSE* instead of the USNO.
So, no the fact that CNN edited their article on the morning of Wed Aug 6th and it still said the meeting will take place "on Wednesday" did not mean they expected the meeting to take place today, but rather later that evening, Wed Aug 6th.
