You make an interesting connection between the days of Lot and today. I think there may be some truth to this based simply on the fallen nature of humankind.

It seems inevitable that if a society rejects God that they will eventually decend into such ideology which involves sexual perversion of some sort. Which includes the perversion of Gods natural order of things.

I think the west in particular has gradually moved away from God as the biblical norm for which society and nation were based on. While at the same time replacing this with a human created ideology. Whatever that may be.

But as this is rejecting God like in all other cultures in will diverge away from Gods law and order and this is what I think we are seeing. Of course there will be an alternative idea about what is moral which is presented as a cover to hide the truth of their sin and they will get away with it for the most part because those also lost cannot decern the difference superficially.

But the old saying 'you can fool some of the people some of the times but not all of the people all of the time' is coming true. The longer the corruption is allowed to fester the more it comes out. As the the truth always comes out in the end.

But still some or perhaps many will still be fooled because in the end this is about a belief. A fundemental belief about how the world and reality itself is ordered. Whether we are gods of our own world or that there is a God we are accountable to and that Christ is the way, truth and life to God.

Misuse of sex has certainly plagued mankind since the days of Lot, but do you really believe that the problem is solved simply by imposing the age limits you suggest? Don't men in their 20s ever rape or abuse women in their 20s?

Some churches (so called) don't teach holiness, but it is too great a generalisation to say that the church as a whole does not teach people what is holy.

The preference is for pleasure. So, because there can be a lot of pleasure involved in sexual experience and how God created women . . . these are used by people who are desperate for pleasure.

But in God's love, we are where any good family and love and intimacy and pleasure have come from. So, where it all comes from is better and nicer and kinder and perfectly satisfying.

Good question, I would say. I find that ones seeking to use women and sexual pleasure are deeply not happy, even miserable and confused, and desperate to feel something nicer than the nasty stuff of sin which has infected them. The cure is not pleasure, but living in God's love where there is peace and personal sharing with God Himself and strength with almighty immunity against the cruel and nasty stuff of sin. The satisfaction is perfect, and so is the safety . . . in submission to Jesus in this love.

So, how do people get here? What I have been learning is > by means of God put away what is not God's love >

"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice." (Ephesians 4:31)

Put it away > meaning, how ***God*** gets rid of it. And, instead, grow in how Jesus in us has us developing in love >

"And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:32)

And lusts are not being kind. Using someone is not being kind. So, also, get rid of lusts which would have us just using someone for what we desire >

"as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, 'Be holy, for I am holy.'" (1 Peter 1:14-16)

This is gained and learned together with each other in Jesus. We grow as His family helping one another > 1 Peter 4:9-10.
