Son of the morning, highest of all
You had so much going till you took the fall
Had a place in the glory but you wanted it all
Impossible odds but you had the gall
It seemed so unlikely that you would rebel
Such a worthy opponent that you knew so well
But you went down fighting when you heard the bell
Took a third down from heaven when you went to hell

This means war, and the battle's still raging
War - and thought both sides are waging
The Victor is sure and the victory secure
But till judgment we all must endure
This means war

Then came the cross, you thought you had won
You thought you had conquered God's only Son
"So much for Jesus", you said in jest
Then you got a visit from an unwelcome guest

This means war, and the battle's still raging
War - and thought both sides are waging
The Victor is sure and the victory secure
But till judgment we all must endure
This means war

Now it's all over down to the wire
Counting the days to your own lake of fire
But you'll go down fighting for all that you're worth
To try to abolish His image on earth

This means war, and the battle's still raging
War - and thought both sides are waging
The Victor is sure and the victory secure
But till judgment we all must endure
This means war

I LOVE this awesome song by Petra about the Lord's war against Satan. This song is the title cut of an album that was released almost 40 years ago.

You actually found a band my husband knows..by heart at that. He says he used to have all the albums they put out.

These are very good songs.. :) Thank you, and DH thanks you too!

Y'all are most welcome!
Before I was married, I was buying as many Christian music CDs as I could afford. Petra is one of my favorite groups and I got about a dozen of their albums.

Amen to this song. We are in a spiritual warfare. Yes, that devotional is finally released. What a pain to make, but all the verses point to the End Times and the war between good and evil. @Hazelelponi , this song that my bud @Vambram posted ties in deeply with the six verses in my devotional. I do have to be honest, the song is a little heavy for my taste (but only slightly), but the battle at the End Times, or on the cross was pretty heavy. Those synths are good, same with the lyrics. Isn't it unique how Jesus won the war on the cross 2000 years ago, but at the same time, there would be a battle to be won in Revelation? Does that mean God won twice?

Here are two verses in the devotional:
Ephesians 6:11-13 (NIV): "Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand."

Isaiah 54:17 (NIV): "No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord."

Excerpt about how to step up to our Battle Stations:
To step up to our metaphorical battle stations, Christians can engage in personal growth by regularly studying Scripture, praying, attending church services, and seeking accountability with other believers for encouragement and guidance. Additionally, Christians can strive to embody love, kindness, and compassion in their interactions with others as a testament of Christ's love and as an effort to counteract greed and immorality in society.

Glad I heard the song when I did. Seems like corporate greed means that this song is now blocked on YouTube due to licensing disagreements with SESAC (Society of European Stage Authors and Composers).

Quote from YouTube: "We have held good faith negotiations with SESAC to renew our existing deal. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we were unable to reach an equitable agreement before its expiration. We take copyright very seriously and as a result, content represented by SESAC is no longer available on YouTube in the US. We are in active conversations with SESAC and are hoping to reach a new deal as soon as possible."

I think Petra was pretty mediocre after Greg X. Volz was gone.
I believe Petra got even better after replacing Greg X Volz with John Schlitt.

I actually bought the cassette This Means War! in 1988 because I figured "How can you go wrong with Petra?" I listened to it at home and it was a cheap imitation of the Greg X. Volz Petra. I never bought another Petra cassette.

To each his own. We all have different tastes in music.
