Engineering product design is an iterative, refining activity. It is for the same basic reason that the inadequately-tested covid mRNA drugs - not only new drug products but a new technology - saw the drug industry and their bioengineering throw caution to the winds. And now it is no surprise that the dark side of the 2020 hype is surfacing.
It is for the same reason that Boeing will be having 787 Dreamliner crashes, or near-crashes, because of their incomplete product development process in engineering design. Having acceptable product development processes in engineering matter. At a larger scope, these are a few of the symptoms of the ongoing crash of Western civilization.

Musk has gotten too impatient and now blows them up *before* the flight starts.
I'm sorry, McDowell, what "step forward"? Even as designed, it can't make it to the Moon on a single launch and require refueling. (And *that* would require a "leap forward".) We can already do that.
