As of 2023, there were approximately 11,400 wind turbine service technicians employed in the United States. This number is expected to grow rapidly, with a projected 60% increase in employment from 2023 to 2033
That means in 10 years - they will have added a whopping 6,840 jobs nationwide. Whoopie Doodles
If you had read what I posted - you would had seen we are saying the same thing -Wind:
The wind turbine technician job market is expected to grow by 44. 6 between 2022 and 2032, with an estimated 11, 200 wind turbine technicians in the United States. The industry is specialized in manufacturing wind, contributing to the rapid growth of renewable energy usage in the US. However, the number of wind turbine tech jobs remains small, with an average of 11, 400 nationwide as of 2023.The wind turbine technician job market is projected to grow 60 percent from 2023 to 2033, much faster than the average for all occupations. The industry accounted for 32 of U. S. energy capacity growth in 2021, employing 120, 000 Americans, and now providing enough energy to power 40, 553 Traveling Wind Turbine Tech Jobs in the United States (14 new). According to the Global Wind Organisation, more than 500000 wind technicians will be needed by 2026.
Solar:
The U. S. solar industry saw a 5. 9 increase in jobs as of December 2023, with 279, 447 jobs added across 47 states, including Florida, Texas, Arizona, and Nevada. This growth is attributed to the growing interest in renewable energy and the competitive prices of alternative energy sources. Solar power generation has been used for over half a century, mostly on a small scale or for special projects. Not only is this admin hell bent on killing those industries, the healthcare industry where medicaid is large part of that took cuts to pay for tax cuts for people who didn't need them. How many jobs are going to shuttered when rural hospitals have to shut down?
True the usa has not had too many nuclear accidents. Nothing catastrophic. I suppose the world has had several. Chernobyl, And the Japanese one. But the risk is far greater. If the windmills all fell down the damage is veey low. If a nuke melts down you have quite a few sq miles that now become off limits.Nuclear is 300% more reliable and effective than wind and doesn’t take up 15% of land needed for wind.
When was the last time in the United States that an earthquake, a flood or a war affected any of our nuclear plants?
By the way, the same can be said for wind. All you have to do is knock them over.
True. Perhaps the title and op could have been stated less one sided, resulting in a more balanced conversation. This thread is a typical liberal-conservative debate with no compromise—just mutual dismissal of each other's ideas.
Let's take a look, shall we.
Why not continue with Nuclear Energy - which is safe and much more reliable?
If Trump had cancelled 50% of the wind energy areas, I would have written that. However, he eliminated all of them.True. Perhaps the title and op could have been stated less one sided, resulting in a more balanced conversation.
The problem is when safety regulations are not properly followed which is something that happens when the plants are older and budgets are tighter (deferred maintenance). It can be a good solution, but in this era of drastic deregulation ....Nuclear energy can be safe when all safety regulations are properly followed and has the capability to generate significant amounts of power.

It doesn't have to - I agree with you.Why not continue with nuclear, wind, solar and slowely wean ourselves off carbon producting energy? Why does it have to be either or?
Never said it did. That is why it is not in the top growing energy sectors. One of the indicators that wind power is cheap to operate -- not a lot of workers needed.

I think the scale of the consequences is quite different. If the reasoning is that we should avoid a solution because "safety regulations are not properly followed," this would apply to many areas, such as cars on the road, medicine in pharmacies, food in grocery stores, or money in banks.
There’s more than one.How are windmills any better in Earthquake prone area's?
I’ll keep this post in mind next time the 18,000 lost fast food jobs in CA get brought up.Occupations - yes job sectors - no
