For reference, Patrinsics is the general forum for talking about the church fathers, but I think this thread could cause a heavy debate if moved there. I was very surprised at the "ambivalent" claim. But perhaps when this was happening, Jesus was still working on them, fixing their false beliefs.

I used to believe that it was wrong for women to preach and teach the Bible because I thought that was what the Bible said. I had to have a very dramatic and confusing experience involving a false teacher to be corrected of my beliefs.
