Trump claims about his poll numbers - delusion or purposeful lying, or is someone lying to him?

Trump called into CNBC and proceeded to claim his poll numbers were GREAT! But they aren't.

Here is the video of his call and starts about 1:21

But Trump doesn't have the best poll numbers, in fact they are really low for any president at this point in their presidency except Trump's first term.
And he is losing favor with men.

President Donald Trump's approval rating is falling "most substantially" among men, a pollster has said.
According to a survey by the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass Amherst), Trump's approval rating among this demographic has dropped from 48 percent in April to 39 percent in July.
These results, said Jesse Rhodes, co-director of the poll, show "that support for Trump has deteriorated most substantially among" men.....
Men are one of Trump's key voting bases. In 2024, 55 percent of male voters supported Trump. Losing their support could be damaging for the Republicans, especially when voters head to the polls in the November 2026 midterms.

Here is another article about his low poll numbers:

President Donald Trump’s approval rating slipped in the latest University of Massachusetts Amherst poll.
The UMass Amherst poll, released Monday, found that Trump’s approval rating slipped six percentage points since the survey was last conducted in April. According to the new poll, just 38% of respondents approved of how Trump is handling his job as president while 58% disapproved.
The April poll previously showed 44% of respondents approving of Trump and 58% disapproving. The poll also found Trump is underwater when respondents were asked about his issue performance on immigration, inflation, jobs, civil rights, tariffs and natural disasters.
Among younger voters (Gen Z 18-29), Trump is dropping big time. Per AI on Google, there is this:

  • CBS/YouGov (July 16-18, 2025): Found 28% approval among 18-29 year olds, with 72% disapproving (a net approval of -44). This represents a significant drop from April 2025 where his net approval was -12.
  • Morning Consult (July 18-20, 2025): Showed 24% approval and 71% disapproval (a net approval of -47).
  • Quantus Insights (June 30-July 2, 2025): Found 35% approval and 58% disapproval among Gen Z voters. This is down from 46% approval in May.
  • ActiVote (June 1-30, 2025): Revealed 32% approval and 62% disapproval, a sharp decrease from May where the numbers were nearly evenly split (47% approval, 48% disapproval).
While Trump's approval is higher with Republican voters, Republicans running because they follow Trump may face a backlash in 2026.

More about Trump approval polls -

Six months into his second term, President Donald Trump’s job approval rating has dipped to 37%, the lowest of this term and just slightly higher than his all-time worst rating of 34% at the end of his first term. Trump’s rating has fallen 10 percentage points among U.S. adults since he began his second term in January, including a 17-point decline among independents, to 29%, matching his lowest rating with that group in either of his terms.

I do think he is delusional. But the real tragedy is that he was elected because of his delusions.
He is supported and affirmed in his delusions.
As a nation our pathology is on display for the world. It really is.

Just like he says prices are falling and job creation is up, when they're not.
Nor is the price of gas as cheap as he claims. Today, the average gallon of gas is $3.170.

Multiple recent polls show that Donald Trump's approval rating among Republicans remains high.
  • A recent survey by Gallup found that Republicans broadly approve of Trump's job performance, with his handling of foreign affairs receiving the highest approval at 93%.
If that is what Trump is going by, then it's not a matter of him lying, or being delusional, or having dementia etc.

Trump says it is less that $2.

He didn't say it was just Republicans. And Republicans aren't the only ones who vote.

Trump says it is less that $2.
After Trump made the $1.98 gasoline claim again, on social media May 2, CNBC reported that Trump was likely referring to the trading price for RBOB, a form of gasoline called reformulated blendstock for oxygenate blending. That price isn’t what drivers pay at the pump.

Lols, if you click on the link AI provides, you'd note that the 93% is among Republicans only and not very recent.
