Actual experts disagree. Many of our allies lead financial people point out how this makes our ongoing data unreliable and will result in us getting less favorable trade deals and loans due to the inherent risk that has been introduced. This is a big deal.
The unreliable figures extend mostly to the prior democratic administration so these were misleading to the US economy all along. If Joe had remained lucidly manageable & won reelection, I doubt these figures would even be known.

I live in Everett. And Seattle (where I worked for 10 years up until recently) experiencing a beatdown, is probably more likely due to how rundown and dangerous it's gotten. Everett has gotten worse too. And none of that has to do with Trump. Rather it's due to Democrat politicians allowing it to happen by being so lax in enforcing anything.
I live in Federal way, and your statement is false: Seattle Tourism Surged With 40 Million Visitors In 2024

Seattle and King County saw a significant increase in tourism in 2024, welcoming 40 million visitors, a 5.3% rise from the previous year, as revealed during Visit Seattle’s Annual Meeting. Visitor spending reached an impressive $8.8 billion, resulting in $839 million in state and local taxes.

I'd chalk that up to all the fear mongering dished out by liberal media, making Vancouverites too paranoid to go to Blaine for gas.
The Vancouvernites will tell you that's it's Trump's utter disrespect towards them as a soverign nation.

That's good to hear. I worked near the Space Needle and there were homeless and junkies all around the area. During a period of time in 2021 when I didn't have a car, I had to walk from Denny Way to Westlake Center on Pine St to catch a bus and it was pretty dicey a lot of the way.

Just some advice. We have had ongoing dialogue for away now. Just a friendly suggestion. Rather than just making a claim, you're on the internet, maybe, just maybe, before making a statement dig a little deeper before just assuming it true. Again, a friendly suggestion from a fellow Washingtonian. :)

Why would that stop them from getting much cheaper gas?
Pride. I travel to BC a lot. If there is any group Trump has united, it's the Canadians.

Dig a little deeper to make sure my personal experience is true? Or are you saying I might be making up where I live, just like you might be? It's fun getting advice from someone 36 years younger than I am regarding a place I've lived in going back to 5 years before they were born.

So you go around interviewing people in BC? Do me a favor and pick me up a bag of ketchup chips on your next visit.

No, what I am saying is despite your personal experience of the homeless, and as a frequent Seahawks and Mariners fan and Pioneer Square, I have too. What I am saying your statement of the situation of killing tourism is obviously false.

No, I go there a lot. My girlfriend lives there as well as friends. I spent the whole month of June up there. Once I start talking they can tell by my accent I am American. Then comes the "what the hell" are you guys thinking down there and the vitriol towards Trump. Oh yeah, they have a strong opinion.

What part of "probably" didn't you get?

Concerns have been raised regarding the impact of Seattle's homelessness and drug use issues on its tourism industry.
Some argue that the visible presence of homelessness and open-air drug use can negatively affect the visitor experience and potentially deter tourists from returning or choosing Seattle as a destination. Business leaders and some community members express worries about the impact on downtown businesses and events, including safety concerns and a perceived decline in the downtown core's vibrancy. Some news outlets have reported on specific instances where concerns about homelessness and safety were cited as reasons for events or conferences to relocate from Seattle
, such as a Microsoft conference according to MyNorthwest.com.

So it doesn't have anything to do with tariffs and ICE. That's good to hear. You just hang out with fellow anti-trumpers.

No. It has to do with pride and respect. I am just amiss why you think the response of Canadians would be anything less? I mean there are a lot with second homes in warm places in the states, and never mind not coming down to Blaine for gas. They are putting those second homes on the market and getting out of Dodge.

I've been hearing more about how frightened Canadians supposedly are. That they're scared they'll get kidnapped by ICE.
They are putting those second homes on the market and getting out of Dodge.
That sounds pretty kooky.

Not even close to reality. The people responsible for dealing in these issuers in other countries had no qualms about the numbers prior to Trumps interference.

Yes. Revisions are quite normal and take place all the time given how fast, not only the private industry responds, but also the public industry now saddled with DOGE induced employee shortages. The usual response is "well, that adjustment of 818k jobs under Biden took place before DOGE". That is true, but the BLS understood they had data acquiring issues and had advisory groups working that issue. Those advisory groups got DOGE'ed. Trump et al are making it worse. To think it's being done to benefit a Democratic admin is just Trump like weird.
