I have pointed out earlier that at on August 1st, Trump actually had stats that he could argue in his favor. In a few hours the whole scenario shifted. He pointed out that similar revisions for his predecessor took much longer to be compiled or were only provided for political damage control.
Pointed out or made up excuses for his rage? The compilation and reporting of statistics is a defined process. Or was - who knows how this will work going forward under the circumstances.
I don’t believe his move is as outrageous as is being made out.
He shot the messenger.

One interesting point about Saddam Hussein and weapons of mass destruction, particularly nuclear capability, is that his minions lied to him out of fear. To discourage reporting actual circumstances in favor of a rosy picture hardly ever leads to good governing. Imo.

They sure got the stats revisedon Trump much faster than for the previous guy.
This is done every quarter. Stats are revised as the new reports come in from various sectors. You've made a bold claim - can you back it up?

Labor statistics agency aims to calm furor after Trump fires commissioner

The Bureau of Labor Statistics signaled to staff members Monday morning that work would continue as usual at the statistical agency, where President Donald Trump fired the top official Friday over a bleak jobs report.

“Our mission is unchanged - to provide high quality data to the nation,” William Wiatrowski, the agency’s acting commissioner, wrote in an email to all BLS employees obtained by The Washington Post. Wiatrowski was appointed as interim leader Friday.

The commissioner does not produce the job numbers, nor view them until data is finalized in a report written by career staff members, several former commissioners told The Post.

Trump told reporters Sunday that he would announce a new BLS commissioner “over the next three, four days.”

Trump’s firing and attacks on the BLS may discourage the public’s participation in government surveys, experts say.

“If people come to believe that data are all rigged anyway, someone might think, why should I bother responding anyway?” Abraham said.

Good new management won't need to outsource bad management problems.
To manage something like the BLS and what it does, it requires the staff to do it. Again, if Trump et al who don't understand how the BLS works thinks they are not doing well, they are making it worse.

They are only fast and accurate as the rate of survey responses.
Again, staffing cuts not only at BLS, but also at government agencies also queried in those surveys budgets are cut.

This whole thing is being like Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones not liking being on the losing end of a score at Cowboy Stadium, so he fires the Cowboy Stadium scoreboard operator.

All it needs is a good commissioner to take care of all that. Current staff is over 2000 people.

They had one. The next in line is going to have same staffing shortage issues and Trump is going to have the same bad employment numbers as July. Maybe, just maybe the numbers are being impacted by his tariffs, job reductions, and the rise of small business closures.

Actual experts disagree. Many of our allies lead financial people point out how this makes our ongoing data unreliable and will result in us getting less favorable trade deals and loans due to the inherent risk that has been introduced. This is a big deal.

Tourism to U.S. under Trump is down, costing $4.6B and 40,000 jobs

Hmmm, I wonder how a loss of 40k jobs would effect BLS numbers?
I like to question things like that. Such as how much money the US makes from tourism. Which is $2.36 trillion. 4.6 billion is approximately 0.195% of 2.36 trillion.

A number like $4.6 billion sounds really huge until put into perspective. Likewise there are over 18 million jobs in the tourist industry. 40 thousand is approximately 0.22% of 18 million.

So Trump has devastated the tourism business by losing it 0.195% in income, and 0.22% in job loss.

Wow. That does sound not so bad until you factor in that average annual growth was 3.2%.

I also question your $2.36 trillion number since the data I found was $233.93 Billion in 2025.

( Hey look, an actual citation so people can easily check my numbers)

U.S. data quality has been declining for years. Now Trump’s cutbacks are leading economists to question its figures

A key federal agency is increasingly publishing less accurate inflation data thanks in part to a hiring freeze issued by the Trump administration in January. The Bureau of Labor Statistics, which is part of the Labor Department, is increasingly relying on data collection methods that are less accurate than usual and has stopped tracking inflation figures in three U.S. cities.
They complain about accuracy, but take steps to make it worse

Well it's 50-50 whether it'll be too high or too low, right?

Sorry, I made mistake.
That post of mine I noticed was from the last Trump term.
Me bad.
I think it important to understand I am referring to international tourism.
What the US makes in tourism also includes the value of those Americans who tour other US states.

I think whatever the case the tourism situation is probably being way over exaggerated, like most everything else. Chicken Little to the max as always.

You can think that, but that's not the case. I live in a Canadian US border state, and those cities just south of the border are taking a beat down. I mean never mind tourism, Canadians in this example have slowed to even cross the border for cheaper gas and Costco products.

I live in Everett. And Seattle (where I worked for 10 years up until recently) experiencing a beatdown, is probably more likely due to how rundown and dangerous it's gotten. Everett has gotten worse too. And none of that has to do with Trump. Rather it's due to Democrat politicians allowing it to happen by being so lax in enforcing anything.

I'd chalk that up to all the fear mongering dished out by liberal media, making Vancouverites too paranoid to go to Blaine for gas.
