The Teflon Don. He isn't the first. And yes, he pardoned the loyal criminals that Mueller caught. They didn't rat him out, and he rewarded them. But Trump is still a convicted criminal. And that, unless the Epstein papers actually incriminate him for things he and Epstein did on his island, will be his legacy. The first American president to be a convicted felon. Not even Nixon had that dishonor.

He is a business school graduate and a variably successful businessman so I would expect him to understand how the statistics are gathered and reported. I wish he could go by understanding rather than always giving in to his feelings. Of course, what understanding he had in his glory days is diminished of late.

In fact, Trump's CFO when to prison for doing exactly that. Like any good capo dei capi, Trump has underlings to take the heat for such crimes. But Trump has been repeatedly caught doing the same things where the law is more ambiguous. Trump was found guilty of civil fraud in just such a case, which he has predictably appealed.

Kind of hard to make the resources more reliable when you enact DOGE cuts that sure fire is going to make data gathering harder and less reliable.
