Dear Family, Friends, and Neighbors (Everyone else),

There is something that is heavy on my heart which I need to share with all of you, which you are also free to share with anyone else. There are a lot of conversations on the internet, on various sites, which talk about the gospel of our salvation. And what I am hearing from so many people is a general consensus that someone can make a verbal confession of faith in Jesus Christ, or a confession of belief in what Jesus did in dying for our sins, and this would guarantee the person entry into heaven, no works required.

If this is what you believe, then I must respectfully disagree with that on biblical grounds, which I know I have mentioned before in my other internet posts. For the Scriptures do not teach a salvation from sin and the hope of eternal life with God based on a profession of faith in Jesus Christ only, no works required. For one day we are all going to stand before God on the day of judgment, and we will be judged by God according to our works, not according to our lip service (Matthew 7:21-23; Romans 2:5-10).

For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

For by God-gifted faith in Jesus Christ, which is not of our own doing, we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but as slaves to righteousness in walks of obedience to God’s commands. We are no longer to permit sin to reign in our mortal bodies to make us obey its desires. For if sin is what we obey, it results in death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, it results in sanctification, and its end is eternal life with God (see Romans 6:1-23).

And we learn in 1 John 1-3 that if we claim that we have fellowship with God, but yet we walk in darkness (sin), we are liars. If we claim that we know God, but we do not obey his commandments, in practice, we are liars. For it is not the one who claims he is “in Christ” who is “in Christ,” but it is the one who has denied self, died with Christ to sin, and who is now walking in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in practice, and no longer in sin. They have the hope and the promise of eternal life with God in heaven.

And I am sharing this with you because I am concerned that if the gospel message I believe I am hearing from many of you is what you are teaching others as the gospel, that you could be held responsible by God for giving people a false hope of salvation from sin and of eternal life with God based on a lie. Thus, not based on the truth of what Jesus and his New Testament apostles taught, if read and understood in the correct context in which they said what they did. For many lies are being taught from Scriptures taught out of context and twisted to make them say what they do not say, in truth.

So, please prayerfully consider what I just shared with you, and please read these Scriptures prayerfully, asking the Lord to lead you to all truth. And please know that I must speak the truth of what these Scriptures teach, even if I am hated and rejected and persecuted, in return, because human lives depend upon hearing and believing the truth of what Jesus and his New Testament apostles taught, in their fulness, in the correct biblical context. And please know that I am saying this because I love you all dearly, and my heart’s desire is that all of you come to know Jesus Christ, but in truth!!
