Should We Be Worried About Books Teaching Jesus Was a Socialist?
I'd be more worried about books teaching that Jesus was a capitalist. ;)

Should We Be Worried About Books Teaching Jesus Was a Socialist?
I agree no real worry. Such books have been around a long time and while some do claim Jesus and the church in Acts taught socialism they ignore that the giving was voluntary not mandated. Ananias and Saphira did not have to sell their land. Their sin as I recall was the lying about giving all the money they received. A lie because they held back some.
A bigger modern misconception of money is the use of tithes and offerings to make some ministries/ministers very wealthy. The cries and competition for Christian funding are far too much or at a minimum too top heavy. Often it is the poorest of ministers that are doing the heavy lifting, while some ministries are not unlike the sons of Eli, overcharging God's people. Lots of merchandising in the church as well.

What does any of that have to do with socialism?

Christian Socialism is a thing, and has been for roughly 160 years.

You can blame the English, Germans and French. The combination of New Testament theology and modern industrial-era socialism really takes off in those three countries in the late 1860s through to the end of the 1880s. Notably through various strains of Protestantism (Calvinists, Methodists and Episcopalians).

The Catholic church has an interesting and somewhat contradictory relationship with Christian socialism. At various points and in various ways it has been condemned as abhorrent and unnatural by the Church. At other times it has been praised and seemingly used as a guidepost and organising principle for the Church's approach to political economy.

I doubt that more than 5% of forum members actually understand what the word socialism means. Unfortunately that won't eliminate extensive pontificating on the topic.

Psalms 2:1-12 KJV
1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

I think we all know now that socialism is "giving my hard-earned tax dollars to lazy poor people who won't work."

Emphasis on the poor part. Because giving those dollars to lazy rich people who don't work is absolutely good, right, and just. Those billionaires deserve your money. The poor we'll always have with us, but the rich? Who knows? They need that extra mega-yacht. How else are they going to trickle down that money into your pocket?
