Spoke to my priest regarding baptism of my son after mass and unexpectedly got called out for my tattoos.. It was awesome. He said “You do understand there are certain spiritual ramifications for tattoos, right? Have you ever seen Fr Rippergers talks about them?” He continued: “They can be a source of visual scandal, so ensure you are dressed modestly so as to convey an outward sign of an inward change. I will also be looking into the prayers of decommissioning for them that I will perform on you.” This man was taught by Fr. Ripperger and I experienced that in real time today. Some people might have been offended by this, but this kind of ‘hard’ truth really spoke to my soul. In all of us as men is the desire to be called out by men we respect. That happened to me and it was intensely refreshing. And I’m very much looking forward to getting them decommissioned. Glory to Jesus Christ and thank God for loving priests that take their vocation seriously.

Anybody who knows a veteran knows somebody who usually has a tattoo or two; my dad had a couple, but he always said he wished that he'd never gotten them.

I myself do not have any tattoos. I have scars on my back, my arms, and the top of my head from impacts with flying metal; and I have little chunks of wood and metal embedded in my body here and there as well....I think that says more about my military service than any tattoo could. That, and the fact that my back and my feet are just about totally shot. :)

Leviticus 19:28 instructs that people should not put tattoo marks on themselves, but I think that probably has more to do with pagan rituals behind the tattoos than it does with the tattoos themselves.

But in any case, I am not enamored with tattoos, to be honest; I find them just kind of....icky, especially on women. I guess one or two small ones are okay if you absolutely must have them, but the way people walk around these days covered with them to the point where they look like a 2nd-century Pictish tribesman, I frankly find rather repulsive. :(

I don’t like them on the legs of a lot of women I see in the summer. It’s not attractive imo.

I have a tattoo that I got when I was in the Marines. It's a bulldog with a DI hat on and the
letters USMC below it. The thing is that all tattoos fade and turn dark and are more difficult to
distinguish the older you get. People argue that the ink used is better today, but that isn't why they
fade and turn indistinguishable. It's because you grow skin over the image and it keeps growing until
you're dead. Would I have gotten a tattoo if I had to do it over? Well, I was not a practicing Catholic
at the time, but today I am and would most likely not get a tattoo.
