American Beaten to Death in West Bank

A municipal official and a relative of 21-year-old Sayfollah Musallet confirmed his death to NPR. Musallet was born in Florida and was in the village of Sinjil this week visiting family.


The Israeli military said that a confrontation had broken out between Palestinians and Israelis, and officials were investigating reports of a Palestinian civilian killed.


A U.S. embassy spokesperson confirmed Musallet's death.


Israeli officials rarely prosecute those accused of violence against Palestinians, and when they do, a very small percentage end in conviction.​

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has called on the Israeli government to investigate the violent killing of a Palestinian-American man who was beaten to death by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank.

Huckabee described the incident as a “terrorist act” and demanded the perpetrators be brought to justice....

...“I have asked @Israel to aggressively investigate the murder of Saif Mussallet, an American citizen who was visiting family in Sinjil when he was beaten to death. There must be accountability for this criminal and terrorist act. Saif was just 20 yrs old,” Huckabee wrote on X.
It’s unclear what sparked the incident. Relatives paid their respects on Sunday at Musallet’s funeral.
Another man, Mohammed al-Shalabi, 23, was also killed in the incident, according to the Palestinian Foreign Affairs Ministry.​
