Kentucky policeman shot in traffic stop; suspect flees to church, shoots 4, kills 2; suspect shot and killed, 'had connection with church members'

Two women were shot and killed at a Kentucky church by a suspect who fled there after allegedly shooting a state trooper elsewhere, according to officials.

A suspect allegedly shot a Kentucky State Police trooper near the Blue Grass Airport in Lexington, KY, and then fled to a church [16 miles away!], where the suspect shot four people before police shot and killed the suspect, officials said at a Lexington Police Department press conference late Sunday afternoon.

Officials said they believe that the suspect had a connection to individuals at the church. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.

Coroner Gary Ginn said the majority of the people at the church were related biologically or "have been friends for many years."

"It's a tight-knit group of people," Ginn said during the press conference.

Perp has been identified, but name not released pending informing family.

The suspect has been identified as 47-year-old Guy House, police announced on Monday.

A official briefed on the investigation told ABC News that the suspect had a history of mental health, drug and anger issues. He had had a domestic situation with an ex-girlfriend who then filed protection orders against him, the official said.

The victims are the mother and sister of the mother of the perp's children. [not certain if that is the same as the ex-girlfriend, but seems pretty plausible.]

Gunman ID'd After Killing 2 in Kentucky Church — and Making Chilling Remark Upon Learning Intended Target Wasn't There​

The outlets reported that two people were killed in the shootings: mother and daughter Christina Combs, 34, and Beverly Gumm, 72. The victims were connected to the shooter — Combs is the sister of the mother of House’s children, and Gumm is their mother.

The Herald-Leader reported that House entered the church and demanded to see the mother of his three children. But he was told by one of Gumm’s other daughters, Star Rutherford, that she wasn’t there. Rutherford told the Herald-Leader that House then said: “Well, someone is gonna have to die then.”

[The two surviving male victims are the husbands of the deceased, with one being the pastor of the church.]
