I guess that would depend on your definition of, or use of, "religion".

Years ago the thought came to me that the whole of life is about God, (and certainly not about me) —if so, how much more so, Heaven will be about God, where we finally see him as he is, in all his glory.

Will there be religion in heaven? This question came up during a discussion I was having with another Christian. It was an interesting question and discussion, so I thought I would post it here.
It depends what you mean by "religion". In the bible, Christianity is not called a religion. Religion is mentioned in our English translations. For example:

“If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.” (Jas 1:26 NKJV)

The Greek word it translates apparently refers to the external aspects of one's belief. We will be worshipping our great God in heaven, and although true worship, Jesus said, is spiritual, it does have external aspects. In that sense, there will be religion in heaven.

I would be interested to know what you meant by "religion" in the OP.

Yes, there will be religion. Notice Matthew 6:10 below. Earth should match heaven.

Matthew 6:9-10 (EXB edition)

9 ‘Our Father in heaven, ·may your name always be kept holy [T Hallowed be your name].
10 May your kingdom come and what you want [Your will] be done, here on earth as it is in heaven.

The kingdom of God (heaven) is coming to earth. You won't be in heaven, but rather you will be in the kingdom of heaven here on earth.

Of course not. Since God will be fully visible, there is no need for interpretation or tricking others to think what you don't understand.

Isaiah 65:17 KJV - For, behold, I create new heavens and a - Bible Gateway Bible Gateway passage: Isaiah 65:17 - New International Version

It would seem not, at least not as man defines as religion.

Ways of the earth, earthly things will not be remembered nor come to mind.

Ok, but what interesting things did you and your friend talk about?

The church ministering we see now, if it is God's, is preparing us to be like Jesus so we can share with Him for all eternity. So, with Jesus we will not still have our present sort of ministering, since we will have reached the end-result of it.

And our bodies will be spiritual . . . resurrected to be like the resurrected body of Jesus. We will be like Jesus; so we will be perfectly submissive to our Father, at each moment, constantly discovering what He has us doing. Our worship, then, will basically be how we continually stay attentive to God in us and continually submissive to Him in His own love.

Therefore, what we need to be concerned about is how to be submissive to God in us, and how His love has us becoming in our character.

"Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world." (1 John 4:17)
