The criminal alien was apprehended alongside an MS-13 associate he was residing with and who was also in the United States illegally.
His associate, Rene Saul Escobar Ochoa, 30, is a criminal alien, known MS-13 gang member and foreign terrorist also wanted in El Salvador. Escobar Ochoa is accused of giving orders to fellow gang members to commit a variety of crimes, including multiple homicides, extortion, imprisonment and drug trafficking.

Please note the message to not interfere in arrests. I know some political leaders might paint some of these guys as "dads" or "residents" but think about the victims. Interfering can have deadly consequences.

I think it's great this individual has been apprehended. I applaud ICE for their work in this case. What's concerning is the usual MO for this administration- implement actions that cast a very wide net and then work out the details later as to whether the act was justified/needed in particular cases (if those details are considered at all). We watched this happen with DOGE, and we're watching this happen with deportations. Beside the inhumane nature of this sledge hammer approach, I question its efficiency/cost effectiveness.

This looks like a wise move, arresting an actual criminal.
I found it kind of odd that the ICE press release didn’t mention the person’s name, but there’s probably “on-going investigation” stuff that keeps them from naming the individual, right now, or maybe ever?

Whats the "terrorism" angle? They dont say. Most likely they are simply calling organized crime "terrorism" because it opens certain legal doors.
I think it comes from the recent reclassifying of some of these cartels and gangs as foreign terror organizations.

Good stuff ICE. More of this. Less hassling people just working at a car wash or picking crops out on a farm. They would likely everyone’s support if these were the types they were focused on.

Obviously there are focusing on arresting murderers and other high-profile criminals. They too are arresting those whom a court of law has ruled should be deported. It's just like with the border, while Democrats were claiming the border was safe, secure, and closed, the busing to New York and Chicago exposed the lie and people could see for themselves. People, don't harbor or aid MS-13 gang members, I don't care if they are dads or not.

Of course, this is not surprising. As Homeland stated, they will pick up illegals when they go after the most violent ones, and they do follow court orders to deport. There is legislation to make overstaying a visa a criminal offense:

"On June 1, 2025, Mohamed Soliman, an Egyptian national, attacked a peaceful pro-Israel demonstration with Molotov cocktails in Boulder, Colorado while shouting “Free Palestine.” Soliman entered the United States on a tourist visa during the Biden administration and overstayed his permitted time in the country."

Because some MS-13 gang member or jihadist or other terrorist enters the country legally but then overstays his visa and disappears does not mean that he should be allowed to stay in the country or that our country needs to hold countless criminal trials. I don't care if he has a criminal conviction or not. I want to urge radical Democrats to focus on the next election rather than keep interfering with lawful actions.

...while 93% of those in ICE detention suffer in inhumane conditions not worthy of a modern country. There is no logical reason to keep non-violent illegal immigrants in detention indefinitely.

There has to be a better way. Didn't Reagan grant citizenship to those who had been here a certain amount of time (IRCA of 1986)? We need something like that and then focus on border control and a more efficient immigration system. Ripping families apart is terrible no matter which president does it. We can do things in a smart, humane way, and actually make America great. This is stupid and mean.

Whats the "terrorism" angle? They dont say. Most likely they are simply calling organized crime "terrorism" because it opens certain legal doors.
I think that's the obvious reason (the additional things they can do like property seizures and freezing assets)

But, just objectively speaking, they do check a lot of the boxes for being a terroristic entity.

- Extreme violence and intimidation tactics (beheadings, etc...)
- Transnational nature of their org
- They've engaged in political killings in other countries where they have a presence, and used kidnappings as a tool of political coercion
- They've targeted Americans abroad

So while they're not an terrorist entity the likes of an ISIS or Al-qaeda... I would put them more on par with a Boko Haram (who was added to that same list back in 2013 for the very same reasons, despite not ever having a huge presence in the US), or perhaps the "Real IRA" who got a terrorist designation back in the early 2000's.

It's true that they're an organized crime outfit as well
But there is a stark contrast between
"This group jacks cigarette trucks, removes the tax stamps, and sells them on the streets"
vs.
"This group kidnaps the family members of politicians, and uses it for various points of leverage"
