If a Cambodian company wants to manufacture there stuff in the US? Seriously? Are his staff all just that clueless? (OK, yeah, they probably are.) Do they not understand why most US companies would be doing business in SE Asia?

And as we already know - moving manufacturing to the US doesn't protect companies from the actions of The Toddler and his advisors anyway. Remember BMW?

White House Trade Advisor Peter Navarro criticized BMW's business model in Spartanburg, South Carolina, stating it is detrimental to the U.S. economy and national security.

And this is the very best the United States of America could produce?
We produce much better. Unfortunately they seldom run for office and are rarely elected when they do.

Is that a tacit admission that your selection procedure doesn't produce the best?

Nothing tacit about it. Our system is built to give us lousy options either by ineptitude or malice.
Why don't you guys chose the best?
We’re rarely given the chance and are left choosing the best of bad options.

May I live long enough to vote for someone rather than against the worst option.

You might try to Support what the letter says (and again, you'd have to be kidding) but to DENY how atrociously it is written, defies Belief.
As a teacher I can tell you that some people's children never learn how to identify strong writing. And some children never become strong writers.

It's just baffling when those people become president. Competency isn't important if all you need to do is be a touchstone for fear and hatred.

The math of the electoral system (and the lack of a real parliamentary type system with numerous significant parties) pushes the system to two party dominance. Presumably nearly everyone chooses whom they consider the better of the two major choices.

Changing the system would require a constitutional amendment, which does not seem realistic. Certainly neither of the two parties in power would have much reason to support it.

This is setting aside the particular personality traits and pachinko of success that elevates politicians to the national stage where they might be presidential contenders. Are they 'the best' or are they successful politicians? What we hope for is a candidate who is pretty darn good, and who surrounds themself with 'the best', trustworthy intelligent experts who aren't that into kissing babies and shaking hands.

Imagine any foreigner from a non English speaking country (France, Germany or, indeed, Cambodia), having years of study to master the basics of English and having then the grueling experience of being forced to read such a monstrosity.

It isn’t a great time to be literate.

Shunned Myanmar leader thrilled at US recognition after Trump tariff letter

Min Aung Hlaing expresses ‘sincere appreciation’ for letter from US president threatening 40% tariff

Myanmar’s military leader has praised Donald Trump and asked him to lift sanctions, as the junta sought to capitalise on a tariff letter from the US president believed to be Washington’s first public recognition of its rule.

US diplomats do not officially engage with Min Aung Hlaing or the ruling junta, which seized power from the elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi.
