Two? Good catch but hardly commensurate with the level of force being applied across the country and directed at non violent people with no criminal background. I don’t think catching two bad guys justifies the rest of us living in a police state.

Problem is, detaining and arresting hundreds of people to find two criminals is an extremely inefficient, unjust, and immoral way to look for the tiny percentage of immigrants (whose criminal activity is lower than native born American criminal activity) who are criminals.

How were illegal aliens dealt with before as compared to now?

Law enforcement didn't arrest them?

They arrested them but didn't restrain them?

They arrested them but weren't armed?

In general that has been what cities have done. NYC, my hometown, for example. Mayor Bloomberg said most immigrants brought energy, work ethic, and prosperity to NY and that they would only focus on felons. Riding Ubers in NY is a multicultural adventure.
Bloomberh, a businessman with genuine bonafides, sees the advantage. Trump, a politician, exploits racist fears.

What Obama is talking about is pretty much the same thing as the GOP Sen Lankford bipartisan bill that Trump had the GOP house kill.
There is a difference between advocating for more judges to speed up the immigration process; than waiting for those who are legally going through that process and grabbing them and deporting them because there weren't dubbed a US citizen yet. But hey, when you have daily quotas to make.....

If the suspects were wanted for murder or other serious crimes at that time, the Maryland police would most certainly have arrested them.

Both these presidents spoke about pathways to citizenship, comprehensive immigration, better border security, and arresting those who were involved in criminal activity.
