My mother having mysterious pain

The doctors are not finding the cause of it easily and it's hard for me to watch her in pain day after day while the slow wheels of medicine turn ineffectively on.

Please pray that the next round of imaging will find what is causing my mother's lower abdomen to hurt. Thanks. Either that, or just pray for healing, but this has been going on for months now. It's awful.

Then you need to pray and ask God to heal her. He does not disappoint us. Sometimes I pray for four or five hours. But God is just wanting us to draw closer to Him. Sometimes we can not pray for ourself and we need others to intercede for us.

Update: My mother’s condition has gotten worse. At least now we know what the problem is, and she is being scheduled for immediate surgery.

Please pray that the surgery goes well, and wisdom for these foolish doctors and their runaround. At least now we know how to deal with these symptoms, and what they point to when they arrive.

It seems that we are having more doctor red tape on this surgery than we should. By all rights, this is bad doctors: a colonoscopy earlier this year that missed this tumor, doctors shuffling around through other causes, then we need surgery, then we need to do another colonoscopy before the surgery. Next time we are putting our feet down.

On the other hand, my mother seems to be feeling better today, and having less symptoms.

So this has turned into a nightmarish stage 4 cancer diagnosis. The doctors have found a huge rectal tumor that has expanded outside the organ, has infected several lymph nodes, and they have found masses on my mom's liver which might be more cancer. My mother has an appointment with an oncologist tomorrow.

My brother (the scientist): "Basically the oncologist is going to tell you that you're dead. The survival rate for stage 4 colorectal cancer is only 10%."

Me (hardened spiritual warrior): "Time to break out the artesemin protocols and the resveratrol. It has alcohol in it but if I were in your shoes that is what I would do."

My dad: "It's been a heartbreaking day, hasn't it?"

Me: "I guess so."

My mother is 68 years old. Continued prayer for wisdom for the doctors would be appreciated, and also that the Lord would comfort my mom, because the three of us really aren't up to the task of comforting a dying woman or being caregivers.

Things are getting worse. I ended up taking my mom to the hospital for a chemo port surgery last week and my brother took her to the chemo information session yesterday because I had work. This was really hard on my mom psychologically to hear. She’s already suffering.

My dad wants to put my mother on immunotherapy, and the information from the doctors isn’t clear. They took a biopsy from my mother’s liver that said it was cancer from the colon, but the rectal mass they took a biopsy from didn’t have cancer in it, and they used the rectal biopsy for looking for immunotherapy markers (which obviously would not be on non-cancer cells). My dad is irate and raging at the doctors, demanding appointments and records. We’re finally done with their messing around.

Meanwhile me and my brother and my dad are stuck driving her to her appointments because she has dyspraxia and can’t drive on the freeway. And she is not easy to get blood out of either for blood counts. If I were her I would have done research into artsemin and started alternative cancer treatments right away to try and get rid of the tumor myself while I waited for the doctors to figure themselves out, but my mother is not me. She’s not a fighter and she trusts too easily. (My dad, by contrast, doesn’t trust people enough and picks unnecessary warfare over nothing, except when he’s right.)

We do have supporters from church who have reached out to help us, and we may need their help if my mom goes on chemo. Please pray for wisdom as we coordinate all these logistics, deal with people we cannot fully trust, and deal with complicating psychological weaknesses and work schedules.

My mother has been on chemo for about a week now, and things are (still) getting worse. I will be taking her to another set of chemo appointments again this week. My mother is barely eating and sleeping for long hours. My dad thinks we will be soon seeing her leave to be with the Lord. My mom defensively claims she's okay.

I don't really know what to pray for at this point, but there's the update.

I’ve been praying for your mother and all of you Linux.poet. The chemo is super rough. I have a niece that just went through chemo treatments and it takes a lot out of the patient. Continued prayers for peace, strength, and healing as well as the comfort of the whole family.

Thank you Michie. The nurses at the appointment today were able to give her some medical hydration, which helped some. I will be going in with her tomorrow to see the doctor because we’re going to need help for eczema, which basically amounts to swollen feet. I have to lift her feet one by one into the car now, and the nurses want me to walk beside her to make sure she doesn’t fall. My brother wants to keep her walking. My dad thinks we will need a wheelchair soon.

Those are quite the workout to put on. I have to put them on my mom and until you get the hang of it, it can be pretty difficult. Try to get the largest size you can. They can be uncomfortable.
