Why would I believe that assumption? From what I see on this forum, the American left gives Trump props for Operation Lightspeed (iirc that correctly) which got the COVID vaccines out quickly. It's a shame Trump doesn't take more credit for that, but then again, I kinda understand that after the reaction he got from his base after the one time I know that he did brag about it at a rally.
I would be curious to hear your answer directly to would it matter to you how it was done?
The left condemned Trump for supposedly not acting quickly enough.
But besides that, Trump isn't a scientist or a medical expert, so at best we could say that he funded/kept funding/didn't stop funding the research that solved the cure for cancer. Saying Trump cured cancer would be discrediting the years of work that would have gone to it from the researchers actually doing the job.
It's a hypothetical scenario used to make a point.

This is a hypothetical scenario in which Trump does cure cancer in an ethical manner, and the left denounces him for it. That's the set up.

So far all I've seen is people rewriting and adding to the scenario to fit their rebuttal, rather than rebut the thing as written.
No, we're adding reality to it. No one could possibly believe Trump could cure cancer, so it's an absurd hypothetical.

But, as I said, I'm willing to take it as written. Let's see him cure cancer, then we' can really see how the left reacts.

-- A2SG, I mean, c'mon...the man thinks windmills cause cancer....

No, we're adding reality to it.
Adding reality to a hypothetical is an automatic fail. But it was great for yet another long off topic derail. I'll give both an A+ for that. I also am done with this.

An unchecked Vladimir Putin and unreliable US leadership, mostly.
Remind me again, who was president when Putin crossed the border with no help to the Ukraine from the US whatsoever

Nobody criticizes Trump for not getting the vaccines developed quickly enough. The criticisms were about the distribution and messaging.

There was fear from the left early on that he would rush it through the approval process without making sure it was safe, but ironically that concern completely switched sides. The left accepted the processes it went through while the right rejected them.

Because it highlights the absurdity of the hypothetical.

Cool.

MOD HAT ON

This thread has had a cleanup of posts that called the current Republican Party Leader, Donald Trump, Hitler.

Do not call either political party in the US or members thereof Fascist, or Socialist*, or Marxist or Communist. Do not call the leaders Hitler.
Nobody is allowed to do that on this forum.

This thread is being reopened.

Without good character and compassion, "strength" is mere brutality. Trump will be counted among the brutal in history.
I doubt that.

There's that narrative flip pretending like the current president did not just run a campaign on Biden helping Ukraine way too much, from even before Trump's first adminstration (only then it was Obama/Biden didn't do enough to help them!).

Really quite something to witness.

Looking at the other 45 presidents, who would be anywhere even near striking distance? None.

Andrew Jackson? A slave trader who ordered a genocide against the Native Americans. Opposed abolition and caused what you can argue is statistically the worst financial crisis in US history. Supplied arms to Texan separatists.

Andrew Johnson? Dithered (in some interpretations, outright blocked) over black suffrage and proposed civil rights acts, allowed Confederate officials to be re-installed into government and generally made a mess of Reconstruction.

No president was.

The US was providing help to Ukraine well before the Russian invasion. Mostly in the form of intelligence, training and weapons.

Sounds like Trump might have used him as a role model. He wants everything that he does to be more unbelievable than anything we have ever seen. So if you don't think he's worse than Jackson today just give him time.

When EU leaders were mocking Trump - they were smart hero's - now that they support Trump and go against the left's narrative - they are being bullied.

Trump has brokered how many peace agreements? Four?

But NOOOOO! the media narrative for the last eight years is he is a racist, he doesn't read - he doesn't get security briefings, he is a bully, he's going to cause WW3

Well folks - reality says otherwise - and so do our EU allies
