As for rhe rest, yes its a complaint. No government agency I have ever heard of says they can use less people. Every single one says they need more. And more and more.

And in rhis case it was not a failure on anyone's part. The weather was severe and unexpected.

I know how dangerous the woods can be. I slipped last week, and rolled 30 feet down a canyon, and was luckily stopped by a dead tree. I walked away with a badly bruised shin bone, a bloody forehead and poison oak, which I'm still battling with calamine lotion and prescription steroids. I literally could have been dead.

...I recommend Satellite phones for anyone traversing in any kind of hill country, or mountainous terrain.

The message went out. So tell us, what exactly could have been done different. Do you expect them to jump in their trucks or helicopters and go out with bullhorns and fly around shouting warnings to whomever might be around?

Yet another attempt to politicize a tragedy. In 2022, 474 Americans died in natural disasters; in 2023, the number was 492. There were no cuts to FEMA or NWS, nor did DOGA exist then. Sadly, natural disasters are part of life and, unfortunately, fatalities do occur.

Th lesson from all these is the importance of investing in science and technology to better understand and prepare for natural disasters. Cutting funding for programs like the NWS or FEMA is counterproductive, yet some still support such reductions.

Mandate that things like that camp are reachable by emergency messages.

Perhaps also talk about people who died besides that camp.

Yes, sometimes NO ONE is responsible. We live in a world where things happen. Especially in nature. The weather service cannot be right 100% of the time. And when they are wrong they arw not responsible.

People sometimes miss the warning because rhey are out of cell service, they aren't watching TV or listening to the radio. Sometimes they dont have the emergency services set on their phone. Sometimes they are away from the phone or turn it off.

Things happen. And because things happen it doesn't mean someone is responsible. Not everything is 100% preventable or predictable. We aren't that good.
