I do not believe we are supposed to keep any day. But this is at least something unusual, instead of the SDA views debated again and again.

Spiritual maturity is a continuum. No one knows everything or possesses the answers at the onset. We learn as we go. If you don’t feel it’s appropriate for you in this period that’s fine. You may feel otherwise down the road. There’s more to the sabbath than the day in itself. It’s a mindset and heart position.

God knows the beginning and the end and there’s nothing that occurred since the garden that caught Him off guard. Splitting hairs over the sabbath while in the midst of serious issues in the nation and the world is grievous. There’s more important matters to attend to.

~bella
God does know the beginning to the end and shares that with us right in our Bibles

The Sabbath started at the beginning
Exo 20:11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

And God tells us it will continue for eternity
Isa 66:23 And it shall come to pass
That from one New Moon to another,
And from one Sabbath to another,
All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.

Your reason of "splitting hairs" as a means to disobey God I do not think is a good argument. God gave Adam and Eve the ability to eat from any tree they wanted except one. Was it spitting hairs when they choose to eat from the one tree God told them not to. Does a tree matter, does a day matter? Shall we consult God on this matter, because He seems to believe it does.

Eze 22:26 Her priests have violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.

Is there anything more important than worshipping God? How can we say in one breath we love Him, but by our actions say something else to Him?

Not being separated by God, which we from sin Isa 59:2 which is breaking God's law 1 John 3:4 James 2:11-12 Rom 7:7 Mat 5:19-30 should be the most important factor of this world. If everyone was keeping the Ten Commandments the way God said and the way Jesus explained there would be no more sin just peace.

Isa 48:18 Oh, that you had heeded My commandments!
Then your peace would have been like a river,
And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Why obeying God and His commandments shows a heart change and this faith in doing what He asks by our love reconciles us Rev 14:12 Rev 22:14

God is very particular- He cared about a tree, He cares about His holy Sabbath day. Why there are so many thus saith the Lord on the Sabbath throughout the Bible, Jesus told us to live by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God Mat 4:4 so I believe its more than splitting hairs its a sign between God and His people Eze 20:20, hopefully something to consider.

Copying and pasting scripture isn’t the same as living a principle. Why don’t you talk about what you do instead. How does the sabbath look in your home? That’s a practical example people can draw from. You won’t sway anyone with a page full of text.

I never said it was but it still doesn't change what God said. :)

Sure I would be happy to share how I celebrate the Sabbath and what it means to me and how its changed my life, if you are truly interested,

I guess better to try with Scripture than post what is not in Scripture speaking smooth words people want to hear over what our Bibles teach.

I answered @trophy33‘s question after multiple requests to you for insight which you neglected to provide. Where we differ on this subject is my willingness to meet the other where they are and look for common denominators instead of hammering them with scripture. At the end of the day, the goal is leading people to Christ and serving the kingdom. I don’t know what drives you but that’s my motivation.

I provided a similar answer to yours, that the Sabbath starts on Friday evening to Saturday evening from the biblical weekly cycle which started at Creation by God. I am not sure I understand the accusation here. I do believe we should keep the Sabbath commandment as it’s really no different than any of the other commandments God gave in this same unit James 2:11-12. Just like I do not believe we should teach people committing adultery is okay and I know some Christians who believe it is. I believe we need to teach Biblical Truth. It’s not up to us to change a heart, that only comes from the willingness of an individual through the Holy Spirit.

I agree, we need to meet people where there are, but there is a difference between that and telling people disobeying God is okay or just splitting hairs, I do not see comprise on Truth in the Scriptures.. According to Jesus teaching people to break the least of His commandments, is not the way to lead people to Him Mat 5:19 Mat 7:23 But God's law is perfect for converting the soul Psa 19:7 What drives me is trying to help reconcile people to Christ on Biblical Truth Rev 22:14. The first thing Jesus said to His disciples when they asked the sign of His return, is not to be deceived. Mat 24:3-4 so if it wasn't something that is a huge threat, it wouldn't have been His first answer. Believing the Truth is the difference between the lost and the saved, not everyone wants to come to the Truth to God's Word, they prefer to stay in darkness because of their sins. John 3:19-21 2 Thessalonians2:9-13. 1 Tim 4:1-3 Jesus came to save us from our sins Mat 1:21, we are told we need to forsake our sins and not cover them Pro 28:13 as we are not saved in our sins Heb 10:26-30 We can obey God's commandment His version Exo 31:18 through Christ John 14:15-18 so I do believe it matters what we are teaching and what we are practicing.

And G-d said, Let there be light: and there was light. And G-d saw the light, that it was good: and G-d divided the light from the darkness. And G-d called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. Gen 1:3-5

Now, because the Bible informs us that G-d already created a day at the moment He said, “let there be light”, then what was meant by the statement; “the evening and the morning were the first day”?

First day of what?

This is where only our Father, YHVH, through one statement, is able to declare more truth and a deeper meaning, than ever taught by man’s teachings. How then, do we reconcile the above statement?

If we look up the word “were” in Strong's Concordance, it is the Hebrew word #H1961, which is pronounced “hayah”. Let's see whether the word “hayah” is used elsewhere in the Bible and could have an alternative interpretation.

In the Book of Kings we find what we are looking for, where it says

Then were the people of Israel divided into two parts: half of the people followed Tibni the son of Ginath, to make him king; and half followed Omri. 1 Kgs 16:21

In reading this verse you, like me, are probably wondering what word or words were translated from the same Hebrew word “hayah”?

In this verse, #H1961 ”hayah” is translated “followed”. Could that mean that “hayah” could have been translated ”followed” by the translators of the Bible and would that not have changed the meaning of the fifth verse in Genesis 1 of the Bible?

Would that change what day of the week certain things were created by G-d?

And the evening and the morning were...

You could deduce the word “were” for the day of the week and “followed” for the day of the month. Therefore, the day of the week could be day 3, and the day of the month could be day 4, within the same scripture reading.

For example:

And the evening and the morning were [followed] the third day. Gen 1:13
(explanation/alternate interpretation added)

YHVH in His creation created three kinds of days, as verified throughout scripture; New Moon days, His Feast (moed) days, and work days. New Moon days were set apart from all other days, six work days and the seventh day Sabbath, made up the week which happens four times throughout the month. Although, it is not so obvious, it is however asserted and verified in Genesis 2:1-4

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day G-d ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And G-d blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which G-d created and made. These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord G-d made the earth and the heavens, Gen.2:1-4

The LXX reads this verse

And the heavens and the earth were finished, and the whole world of them. And G-d finished on the sixth day His works which He made, and He ceased on the seventh day from all His works which He has made. And G-d blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He ceased from all His works which G-d began to do. This the book of the generation of heaven and earth, when they were made, in the day in which the Lord G-d made the heaven and the earth Gen.2:1-4 LXX

As stated in Genesis 2:2 in the King James version of the Bible according to the Hebrew lexicon they speak of two seventh days.

You might think that statement is really taking liberty and is an over reach of that particular scripture. But read it again, it stated in V2

And on the seventh day G-d ended His work which He had made. Gen 2:2

One has to ask, did G-d end His work on day seven of the week or did G-d end His work on the sixth day of the week?

As the Septuagint affirms, it is both days. (We took the liberty of bringing into our study the Septuagint. The Septuagint is the Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible. History chronicles that 70-72 Jewish scholars reportedly took part in the translation process. The scholars worked in Alexandria during the reign of Ptolemy II Philadelphus (285-247 BCE), according to the letter of Aristeas to his brother Philoerates. This early collection of scrolls, written in Greek, were around when Jesus was born, and began entering the temple to sit for His readings. This is the text Jesus would have encountered, and this is what He could have read when He stood to read the scrolls.) The Septuagint makes obvious that the interpreters of the Greek OT knew the Hebrew lexicon was talking about the sixth day of the week. If it was day seven of the first new month, that means it would have been day six of the first week, and that would disparage any discrepancy.

Definitely a point to ponder, in the OT if a person ended his work on the seventh day, he could have been stoned. Numbers 15:32-36; you can read where they stoned a man who was picking up sticks on the seventh day (Sabbath)

And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation. And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him. And the Lord said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the Lord commanded Moses. Num 15:32-36

If G-d finished His work on the seventh day of the week, we would have a real injustice here, but we know that G-d is equitable, fair, and just. Therefore, we realize that G-d could not have finished His work on the seventh day of the week. But He could have on the seventh day of the month. A week would not have been declared until it was over, and the week was not over until Elohim proclaimed it to be, when He rested. Thereby, affirming the first week and putting into play His heavenly time piece.

Now, let us read the Septuagint/Greek version of the same incident, the Septuagint makes it very evident that G-d finished His work on the sixth day of the week, because the Septuagint was just dealing with the days of a week at that point in time. The Hebrew version was equating/reconciling the seventh day of a month with the sixth day of the week. Both versions continue with the narrative G-d rested on the seventh day, from all His work, making it very obvious that it was the seventh day of the very first week. However, by Hebrew reckoning, it would have been the eighth day of the month. At that point, they are declaring the end of the week, consequently, the seventh day.

Furthermore, looking back to Genesis 2:4, the word day is translated from the word ‘yom’. However, we already know that Elohim did not create everything in one day. Therefore, ‘yom’ takes on it’s second meaning, which is a period of time. It should be noted here, that the Hebrews did have a word to designate a week, and that word is ‘shabua’ (pronounced sha-VOO-ah) in the strong concordance #H7620 meaning a period of 7 days. Throughout the Bible, ‘yom’ is never used to express a week. The fact that ‘yom’ is used in Genesis 2:4 to express a weekly period of time, when a more specific word could have been used, leaves room for a more nuanced interpretation.

The first New Moon day, however not very obvious, but definitely insinuated, was proclaimed by G-d. This is made clear by the way light was created and named. That would have been the very first day created, a new beginning of a month, however, not the first day of the first week. The first day of the week would have been the second day of the month. That is the only way that the Hebrew “hayah” can mean both “were” and “followed” and bring truth and clarity to the first two chapters of the Bible. This eight day count from the first new moon day of the month to get to the seventh day of the week is insinuated in the book of Joshua 6.

YHVH would have never suggested that Israel be in complete war paraphernalia for seven days knowing that one of those days would have been the Sabbath. However, it does make sense, if the first day was a new moon day. This is corroborated in the Book of Jasher

And it was in the second month, on the first day of the month, that the Lord said to Joshua, Rise up, behold I have given Jericho into thy hand with all the people thereof; and all your fighting men shall go round the city, once each day, thus shall you do for six days. Jasher 88:14

You might wonder why it may confident to referance the book of Jasher, while studying the Bible. The Bible itself, in the Book of Joshua 10:13 references Jasher, and also in 2 Samuel 1:18. So, it is helpful to better understand the historical context. Therefore the day after that siege they would have been able to keep the sacred Sabbath. There are other hidden pearls/stories throughout the Bible that give affirmation to this thesis.

And G-d said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: Gen 1:14

The word “seasons” according to Strongs Concordance is #H4150, (moed) meaning; appointed time, sacred seasons, set feast. As in New Moon days and His Sabbaths. The word Day (yom) meaning the light of the day. At that point in creation the only (mo-ed)/feast days would have been New Moon day and the day Elohim rested from His work, (Sabbath). The other Feast days/weeks come into play much later because of mans sin.

For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord. Isa 66:22-23

The heavens declare the glory of G-d; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether... Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. Ps 19:1-9 .14

He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down. Ps 104:19

As you can see from the verses above YHVH appointed the moon to keep His seasons (moed). V.2 of Psalm 19 goes on to claim that the night reveals knowledge. You can not discern what day of the week it is by the sun, but you can ascertain what day of the week it is by the nighttime moon. And in V.3 there is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. That means that YHVH made it known to everyone, there is no private interpretation, nature (the moon) reveals knowledge through a language that everyone can experience and understand. YHVH’s time piece was always set in the skies for us to discover/rediscover. The moon was appointed so one could tell which week of the month they were in, and which day of the week it was.

However YHVH hid His sabbaths from his people; (Lamentations 2:5-6)

Since the appointed feasts, such as new moon days, and Sabbaths which were regulated by the moon cycle, have been forgotten. It's up to YHVH’s people to rediscover, through searching prayerfully the word of G-d for TRUTH.

Today’s calendars no longer rely on monthly cycles, they are not regulated by the beauty of G-d’s creation, His handiwork, or the lights in the heavens. YHVH has created His time piece in the heavens for us to discover, contemplate, investigate and enjoy. May eyes be opened and TRUTH be found by all those who search.

At the conquest of Jericho in the book of Joshua chapter 6, the following instruction is given to the israelites

And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days... and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets. Jos 6:3-4

Finally, on the seventh day, the walls fell down

So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep Jos 6:20-21

The Churches of G-d believes that according to tradition, Israel took the city on the last day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Thus, the battle and victory are said to have taken place at the end of the feast. The difficulty with this is that the focus of the battle took place on a holy day. That is, the Israelites are said to have been ordered to wage war on such a day.

The book of Jashar describes in chapter 88 the same events as in Joshua

And it was in the second month, on the first day of the month, that the Lord said to Joshua, Rise up, behold I have given Jericho into thy hand with all the people thereof; and all your fighting men shall go round the city, once each day, thus shall you do for six days... And on the seventh day they went round the city seven times, and the priests blew upon trumpets. And at the seventh round, Joshua said to the people, Shout, for the Lord has delivered the whole city into our hands... And the people blew upon trumpets and made a great shouting, and the walls of Jericho fell down, and all the people went up, every man straight before him, and they took the city and utterly destroyed all that was in it, both man and woman, young and old, ox and sheep and ass, with the edge of the sword. And they burned the whole city with fire; only the vessels of silver and gold, and brass and iron, they put into the treasury of the Lord. Jas 88:14 .17-18 .21-22

According to this, the Israelites began to circumambulate the city on the first day of the month, the day of the new moon, and therefore did not wage war on a seventh-day Sabbath.

In 1 Kings 20:26ff, a war of King Ben-Hadad against the Israelites is described. In verse 29 it says

And they pitched one over against the other seven days. And so it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel slew of the Syrians an hundred thousand footmen in one day. 1 Kings 20:29

Again, the question arises, what day was the Sabbath during this battle?

Verse 26 says

And it came to pass at the return of the year, that Benhadad numbered the Syrians, and went up to Aphek, to fight against Israel. 1 Kings 20:26

The Hebrew word for "return of the year" is

teshuwbah (#H8666) shaneh (#H8141)

1747985872231.jpeg

teshuwbah shaneh is the first day of the biblical year. This day is also a new moon.

So the principle here is the same.

The battle began on the new moon and ended just before the beginning of the Sabbath; day 8/month

It is refreshing to see how accurate the Bible is and that you can rely on it, even in such details!

When YHVH commanded the Israelites to march around the walls of Jericho for seven days, wouldn’t that have been violating the Sabbath?

The issue is not how long a Sabbath day’s journey is or how long the distance around the city of Jericho was, the issue is that YHVH initiated an offensive battle attack on the people of this city for seven consecutive days

And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the Lord hath given you the city... But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the Lord: they shall come into the treasury of the Lord. So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword. Joshua 6:16 .19-21

One thing is for certain, Lunar Sabbatarians are not faced with having to understand why YHVH had Israel’s army act offensively on the Sabbath, whereas Saturday Sabbatarians have no choice but to believe that this is what YHVH did, and then they must give an explanation as to why this took place.

Those who observe the lunar Sabbath can say that YHVH did not have to command Israel to act offensively on the Sabbath, for this Sabbath reckoning does not make YHVH do such a thing. Ponder on this point.

The moon in combination with the sun and the stars, is ordained to measure weeks, months, days and years (Gen 1:14; Lev 23; Ps 104:19; Ezek 46:1-3). The creator placed them in the heavens, beyond the reach of man. This is strikingly illustrated in Moses’ account of the Exodus from Egypt, which reveals identical dates and calendar details for three months in a row

1748508846608.jpeg

It further establishes that our Creator’s seventh-day Sabbaths were each numbered from the New Moon Day, which also refreshes the weekly cycle every lunar month. This revelation of truth exposes the false assumption widely believed today that the modern week has cycled continuously since the first week of creation.

Shocking as this may appear, those who genuinely desire to know the truth must investigate it for themselves.

These first three months contain explicit evidence that there has been a change in calendars since creation! This proof is the placement of the seventh-day Sabbath.

The first month began when Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt. It was the first Passover

Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb,... And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. Ex 12:3a .6

The 10th and 14th of the 1st Month are workdays, the 14th is also known as the Preparation Day, a workday. These days can NEVER land on the 7th Day of the Week. It is only natural to think Israel rested on the 15th, as the 14th Day is known to be the Preparation Day making the 15th Day the weekly Sabbath and the 1st Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

According to Lev 23:6 and Num 28:17 the feast is always on the 15th day of the month

And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. Lev 23:6
And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten. Num 28:17

and this 15th day of the month is the 7th day (of the week) according to the biblical Calendar.

The Exodus from Egypt was on the night of the 15th

And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the passover the children of Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians. Num 33:3
Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the Lord thy G-d: for in the month of Abib the Lord thy G-d brought thee forth out of Egypt by night. Deu 16:1

This date is expressly connected with the sabbath commandment, the fourth of the ten commandments

And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the Lord thy G-d brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the Lord thy G-d commanded thee to keep the sabbath day. Deu 5:15

So here is the 15th of the month in connection with the day 7/week.

The daylight portion of the 15th falls between two exhausting nights, that of the Passover on the 14th and that of the 15th when Israel began their exodus from Egypt, it is only reasonable to believe that Israel rested during the daylight portion of the 15th after having been up all night during the Passover. It is the daylight hours of the Sabbath that are set-apart, therefore YHVH waited until night to bring the Israelites out of Egypt! Once the sun had set the Israelites were free to march out of Egypt during the night with boldness without violating the Sabbath!

So in conclusion, because the 15th Day of the 1st Month was a weekly Sabbath, so were the 8th, 22nd and 29th!

It is faithfully recorded in the NT that, during the period its history covers, the concrecation was keeping Days of Unleavened Bread!

In Acts, we read

And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, Acts 20:6a

Paul and companions plainly had observed the Days of Unleavened Bread at Philippi. The Holy Spirit could never have inspired such words otherwise.

Notice also

(Then were the days of unleavened bread.)... intending after Easter (Passover; see Greek) to bring him forth to the people. Acts 12:3b-4b

It's not any blinded Judaizers, ignorant of what was abolished, making this statement, it is Almighty G-d saying it through inspiration of the Holy Spirit. This was years after the crucifixion. The Days of Unleavened Bread still existed, or the Holy Spirit could not have inspired these words.

The 15th is the Feast Day, a Memorial, to be kept a holy convocation, Forever! Seven Days are included, and we see that the seven-day period begins the 15th, after Passover has passed.

There are approximately 29.5 days in the lunar cycle beginning with the sighting of the first small crescent just after sunset. Lunar months are most conveniently estimated at 30 days, but when laid out in a succession of months, they can be most conveniently calendarized only by periods of 29 and 30 days in alternation.
S.: Rest days: a study in early law and morality, by Webster, Hutton, 1916; pp. 178-179

None of these numbers, obviously, are divisible evenly by 7. However, in a Babylonian calendar dated at about 700 B.C., a scheme of rest days on 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th of the moon cycle are recorded. Those days coincide with the first quarter (half-moon), full moon, third quarter (half-moon in reverse), and the day of the moon's disappearance. This is almost the SAME cycle that G-d revealed to the Israelites in Exodus 16!

The children of Israel had lost sight even of the true Sabbath and that is why G-d revealed to them the Sabbath in the wilderness of Sin (Ex 16) at this scene of the giving of the bread

Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments: And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant: And gavest them bread from heaven for their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and promisedst them that they should go in to possess the land which thou hadst sworn to give them. Neh 9:13-15

Seeing that the children of Israel had been in captivity to the Egyptians for many years, a resurgence of some degree had to take place in their religious devotion to YHVH. One such thing to be restored was the weekly day of rest, the day that had been blessed in the book of Genesis.

How exactly did YHVH make His Sabbath known to Moses and the rest of the children of Israel?

There are not many dates in Scripture that YHVH specifically spells out for us, but here in a chapter that is specifically about the when of the weekly Sabbath day, we have the spelling out of the 15th day of the second month

And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt. Ex 16:1

YHVH here is giving us a point of origin. He is telling us what was taking place in the Israelites journeys at this time in their history, and He is giving us a specific date so as to enable us to calculate a specific period of time.

There are some who have attempted to say that the Israelites were traveling on the 15th, because of Ex 16:1. This, in their estimation, disproves the entire notion that the 15th could have in any way been a weekly Sabbath. On the weekly Sabbath, they reason, journeying or traveling would be prohibited. We do feel that if the text bore out here that traveling was done on the 15th it would be an indication that a Sabbath day was not taking place. However, the text does not give us such an understanding.

The Hebrew (Masoretic) Text actually portrays the same meaning as the Septuagint. The presence of a major logical pause between the verb “came” and the words “on the fifteenth day” verifies this fact. This logical pause is denoted by the use of the atnah, which resembles an upside down “v”, under the Hebrew word for Sinai (סִינָ֑י)

Etnahta or Atnah is a Hebrew accent mark to indicate the end of the first segment of a verse. There is an atnah in each of verse of the Hebrew Bible. It roughly divides the verse into two halves.

The presence of the logical pause in Ex 16:1 shows that Israel had come to the wilderness of sin and made camp by the beginning of the 15th day. Realizing this from both the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures, we see that there is no justification for those who insist that some type of strenuous traveling took place on the 15th day of the second month. Thus, we should look elsewhere for the reason of this particular day of the moon being mentioned in a chapter that deals with Sabbath observance.

And they departed from Aelim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Aelim and Sina; and on the fifteenth day, in the second month after their departure from the land of Egypt, all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron. Ex 16:1-2 LXX

In looking at both the Hebrew Masoretic text of Scripture and the ancient Greek Septuagint translation (LXX), we see that what occurred on the 15th day of the second moon was the murmuring of the children of Israel, not the traveling.

I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the Lord your G-d. Ex 16:12

Specific days of the month are not mentioned that often; nothing is mentioned in the Bible unless something significant happens. It is no coincidence that a day of the month, a day of the moon, is mentioned here in a chapter about the weekly Sabbath.

The Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron on the 15th day of the month. After this grumbling, they were promised bread for six days, beginning the next morning (Ex 16:4-5 .8 .11-13). If the Israelites grumbled on the 15th day of the month, this would mean that the bread would begin the next morning, the 16th day of the month. The 16th day would then be the first day of the bread.

Counting from the 16th day, we get the following

1st day of the bread = 16th day of the month
2nd day of the bread = 17th day
3rd day of the bread = 18th day
4th day of bread = 19th day
5th day of the bread = 20th day
6th day of the bread = 21st day

If you count the days of bread, you arrive at the 22nd day of the month/moon. This 22. day of the month would be the 7th day of the week. The seventh day, the Sabbath, was mentioned directly after the sixth day of the bread (Ex 16:21-26). If the 22nd day of this month had been the Sabbath, counting backwards, the 15th would have been a Sabbath. This in turn would mean that the 8th day of this month was also a Sabbath. Counting forwards results in a Sabbath on the 29th day of the month. So we have Sabbaths on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th day of the month.

With this method, the new moon day would not have to be counted as a working day, which is exactly in line with what YHVH says in Ezekiel

Thus saith the Lord G-d; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened. Ezek 46:1

YHVH is going to rain bread from heaven for the Israelites and the verses are very specific in saying that every day the children of Israel will go out and gather the bread. For a total of six days, this was to be done. On the sixth day, they are to prepare that bread which they bring in, and it will be twice as much as they gather daily. There is no mention of them actually gathering double the amount, but rather that after they prepare it, it would be twice as much.

The children of Israel did not gather a double portion on the sixth day, they prepared what they brought in and it would be twice as much. The bread was multiplying as the Israelites prepared it! The point of this is that in the case of there being a Sabbath, YHVH made it possible for the bread to last for two consecutive days by the action of a miracle.

See, for that the Lord hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. Ex 16:29
ראו כי־יהוה נתן לכם השבת על־כן הוא נתן לכם ביום הששי
לחם יומים שבו ׀ איש תחתיו אל־יצא איש ממקמו ביום השביעי

The Hebrew text of v.29 does not use the Hebrew word for two (sheni), but rather just reads the bread of days, plural. The word "two" there is a translation gloss. A gloss is an explanatory comment or note added to the text of a book. It also refers to a kind of explanation (thought not a translation) of a foreign or strange word that needs explanation. The Hebrew phrase yomayim means "days" or "two days" in English. It is the plural form of yom, which means "day". The Hebrew text just reads "bread of days".

Here's a breakdown:

yōm (יום) The singular form, meaning "day".
yō·w·mā·yim (ימים) The plural form, meaning "days".

This phrase in Hebrew accounts for more than just two consecutive days of bread provided miraculously, and it could in fact be days innumerable, for nothing is impossible with YHVH. This is a very clear and concise answer to those critics who attempt to evade the issue by saying, What about the New Moon?

The fact of the matter is that YHVH would have no problem giving the children of Israel the "bread of days" on preparation day just as the inspired Hebrew text states in Ex 16:29. Furthermore, the lack of an exception being mentioned is not proof that there was not an exception for the day of the New Moon.

Moses and the Israelites make their final journey on their way to Mount Sinai. Scripture states that the Israelites arrived at Mt. Sinai on the same date on which they had left Egypt two months before

And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the passover the children of Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians. Num 33:3

1749907194485.jpeg

In the third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai. For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount. Ex 19:1-2

The fifteenth of the third month, like the fifteenth of the first month, was a seventh-day Sabbath.

YHVH did not break the seventh-day Sabbath at the exodus by leading them out during the holy hours of the sabbath. He waited until the night, following the day, to lead them out

Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the Lord thy G-d: for in the month of Abib the Lord thy G-d brought thee forth out of Egypt by night. Deu 16:1

YHVH always obeys His own laws.

Once this principle is understood, it can be assumed that the Israelites were led to Sinai from Rephidim at night, just as they had traveled by night when they left Egypt, three months before.

When the fifteenth of a month is a seventh-day sabbath, the rest of the numbering for that month can be supplied. This demonstrates a lunar month with the first day being New Moon day.

The numbering of the days of the third month in a row is identical to the previous two month. Only lunar months provide an identical numbering arrangement for three months in a row.

Numbering from each New Moon day is the only way to find the seventh-day Sabbath that the Creator designed for worship.

For three months in a row the 15th Day of the Month has been shown to be a weekly Sabbath of rest which is impossible on any calendar which ignores New Moon Day as a third category of day which is neither a work day or Sabbath but ratherutilizes an 'unbroken chain of 7 day weekly cycles'.

So in conclusion, because the 15th Day of the 3rd Month was a Sabbath the 8th, 22nd and 29th Days were also Sabbaths!

For the 3rd Month In A Row, the Sabbaths have fallen on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th Days of the Month!

The government of Samoa ruled to move the IDL to its east, creating Samoa's Dateline Paradox, making it unclear which day is the Sabbath.

Do Governments have Authority to Determine G-d’s time?

Some have argued that human authorities and governments should be respected and that they have the authority to determine how time should be observed. It is thought that governments have a legitimate role in determining the position of the date line. NT scriptures are quoted to support the G-d-given power and authority of governments. It is true that in all matters of civil obedience, law and order and conventions for society, the Christian should obey and respect human governments. We accept the determination of government’s for our calendar-time, and for dates. No Seventh-day Adventist would disregard the actual dates or “day names” that are used in Samoa or Tonga.

However we are also warned that in matters of worship and conscience, no human power supercedes our responsibility to G-d (Acts 5:39) It is not for Governments to tell us “when” to worship, or when G-d’s sanctified time begins. In fact we are warned that they may even think “to change times and laws:” (Dan 7:25).

G-d’s holy time is not defined by human governments or authorities, but by Himself. In the context of the Bible, particularly Romans 13, while it discusses submission to governing authorities, and emphasizes that these authorities are established by G-d. The passage does not equate the authority of human governments with the divine authority that defines holy time.

Therefore, even when obeying earthly authorities, believers are still called to recognize the ultimate authority of G-d and the holiness of His time. Essentially, G-d's holy time is a spiritual concept connected to G-d's own nature and will, rather than being subject to the shifting and often arbitrary rules of human systems.

On the other hand, those, who say we should not concern ourselves with the physical Sabbath, when (if at all) we observe it, how we observe it, but rather with the spiritual, the attainment of spiritual rest in the Messiah, do not understand the connection of the physical with the spiritual. Nowhere does the Bible separate the physical from the spiritual - that is a Western way of thinking.

In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week '(1 of the Sabbatwn'), came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. Mt 28:1

The lunar month in scripture has been tracked (or mapped) inspecific half cycles (from the limits of the full-phase and from boundary of the new-phase). The 7th-Day Sabbath (as it was observed under the late Second-Temple) was counted as a quarter-division of the lunar-cycle. '1 of the Sabbatwn' refers to a formal lunar-calendar date and occurres at the epochs of the half-lunar-cycle. It appears in correspondence with the waxing and waning stages of the Moon.

The lunar-half-cycle counts between the occurrences of Newmoon and Fullmoon inherently defines 4 lunar-based weeks in each reoccurring lunar-cycle.

In each of the eight locations where '1 of the Sabbatwn' takes place, it makes sense that each of the passages refers to the two weekly Sabbaths during the waxing (Acts 20:7) resp. waning (Mt.28:1) phase of the moon.

Paul was also using YHVH’s calendar after the crucifixion in Acts 20:7. He mentions the first day of the week, which was on the second day of the moon (Acts 20:5-7). Paul’s company sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them in Troas in five days (26th), where they stayed seven days. The seventh day was the second day of the moon and Paul calls the second day of the moon the first day of the week, and that puts the Sabbaths again on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th.

Begin by counting the 26th as the first day of their stay in Troas, the 27th as the second, the 28th the third, the 29th the fourth, the 30th the fifth, the 1st the sixth, and the 2nd day of the month as the 7th day of the stay and the 1st day of the week. This proves Paul kept the weekly Sabbath on the 8th day of the moon, and then the 15th, 22nd, and 29th.
