If the liberals are so concerned for the poor why have many mainly in sanctuary cities chosen to take far better care of the illegals than their own citizens who are poor or homeless veterans or just the homeless in general? Look at the communist running for mayor in NY. He promises utopia to the poor in reality only want in the end to lord it over the masses. Government run grocery stores, government over the means of production, eliminating billionaires who build the businesses and create the jobs. Why do so many fall for this ruse? It is because the liberal ideology has so influenced and lied to the gullible that many think liberal politicians care about them but nothing could be further from the truth. BYW there are liberal Republicans just fewer than on the Democrat side of the isle.
Or because the businessman who run the grocery stores don't want to own stores in areas of high poverty. The profit margin of grocery stores is very low, so locating in an area where per shopper totals are lower and where shoplifting may be higher is unprofitable for them. In these limited instances, a government store would give poor people a chance to buy fresh healthy food.

There has never been a truer word spoken - the government has never run a profitable business in it's 249 year existence. They will be used to it and you and I and everyone in the US will pay for it.

I have been in countries where the government controlled the grocery stores, staying with a host family when they got excited because the store had toilet paper that day, they got up early to get in line.

It is what every totalitarian government want - Government run businesses - the government run supply lines - elimination of the wealthy who drive the economy - that is totalitarians Xanadu

You know, that’s a really good question. Congress just passed a bill appropriating hundreds of billions of dollars to house undocumented migrants. How much did they put aside for getting our homeless Americans off the streets?

The only time I’ve ever had trouble finding toilet paper in a store in the US was the last time Donald Trump was president.

When I lived in St. Louis, my parish had a sister parish in a "food desert," North St. Louis City. We would adopt families and get them Thanksgiving dinners, etc. We would get whatever we could in the reasonable stores--so many groceries to choose from--but we always had to get them a turkey gift card to the most expensive grocery in the area. Why? Because it was the only store on the north side, the only one that people could get to on public transit.

If that store ever closed (and I believe the chain has gone out of business) they would only be able to go to Dollar Generals or Dollar Trees.

In the free market system, government can't force supermarkets to move into food deserts where they are less profitable. But under God's system, we can't let people go hungry or see their SNAP benefits minimized in overpriced stores if we can do something to change that.

Is it even legal for the US federal government to run a for-profit business? Should the government be in business for profit or should it be providing services for the benefit of its citizens?

And that is what charities are designed to do - bravo to those parishes -
If that store ever closed (and I believe the chain has gone out of business) they would only be able to go to Dollar Generals or Dollar Trees.
That is called free market - if the owner cannot pay his people or bills - what is he/she to do?
In the free market system, government can't force supermarkets to move into food deserts where they are less profitable.
Right - that is what makes it FREE - free from force - Land of the brave - home of the free
But under God's system, we can't let people go hungry or see their SNAP benefits minimized in overpriced stores if we can do something to change that.
Right - use God's system - that is what His church is commanded to do - Churches with government subsidized food programs - Government supported food pantries - generous donations from people just like you.

This government is not God.

If you believe that is the goal of the communist mayorial candidate in NY you may have just bought into his con job!

Remember when Ted Cruz read Dr Seuss all night at a filibuster? Talk about a snooze.
Is this what many liberals on this forum refer to as "whataboutism" ?

Two words. Manchin. Sinema.
Name one since Trumps relelection? Oh yea, Fetterman , name just one more. How many voted to not raise taxes on almost everyone? You do realize that anyone who does decide to stray from the Democratic Party line on votes doesn't have much of a future in the party. The ones that occasionally voted with Republicans were either worried about reelection or had a brief conscience.

or should it be providing services for the benefit of its citizens?
You failed to mention those non-citizens that seem to get more support from liberals than actual citizens.

Answer my question and I’ll answer yours. How much money to house homeless Americans vs how much money to detain and deport millions of working and living in the country?

Ok, he wins the mayors seat, gets his city run grocery store or stores, how do funds from the entire country become involved? There’re some steps missing here.

Well by all means, let's see your quantitative break down of how much better off the liberals take care of immigrants over homeless veterans. I'm sure your in depth analysis will be very illustrative and informative.
