Vice President JD Vance shared a text message from a Republican Congressman who was initially undecided on a bill but became a firm supporter after witnessing House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ performance, likely referring to Jeffries’ marathon floor speech during the vote on President Trump’s tax and spending mega bill. The text, as posted by Vance on X, read: “I was undecided on the bill but then I watched Hakeem Jeffries performance and now I’m a firm yes.” Several X posts echoed this sentiment, with some users suggesting Jeffries’ speech inadvertently bolstered support for the bill among Republicans,

How is it effecting the Democratic House members?

  • Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH): Posts on X specifically noted her appearing to doze off during Jeffries' speech.
  • Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-TX): She was observed with her head down and eyes closed during the speech, as reported by the Daily Mail and echoed in posts on X.
Additionally, reports mentioned "multiple Democrats" were seen with their eyes closed, but no other specific names were provided

For a group that doesn’t want a King the worship of Jefferies is astounding. A long winded rant accomplished what? “Hogwash” per Representative Jason Smith.

My own belief about the sudden change of heart of 16 very conservative Republicans is that when Trump absconded with the classified files and hid them in Mar-A-Lago in January 2020 he managed to copy volumes of classified material about members of Congress and others that he could use to threaten them with exposure in order to get his own way. But that's just my theory based on my knowledge of his character and the suddenness of the 16 members change of
What you call knowledge is nothing more than biased speculation.

Who was the representative that changed their position?

I certainly wouldn’t want to support someone so wishy washy they change their position on a law based not on principle but what their colleagues are doing on the other side.

He used his " magic minute " to expose the immorality of this bill. That's a good thing.

Watch the video at the close of his 8 hr + rant.
What which video where?

Who is this text from again? "As read by JD Vance" does not exactly lend credibility to the story given JD's past claims.

Isn’t this a little late and a desperate attempt to obscure the great win today?

There is no immorality in this bill which is going to become law tomorrow.

Isn't what a little late? If you're referring to my reply, this thread was just started a bit past noon today, so no, how is it a bit late? If you are referring to something/someone else being late and desperate, please clarify.

Who are you accusing of attempting to "obscure the great win", me, the OP, Jeffries or Vance? I have yet to see Vance reading the text which is from whom again?
I watched it live. I just assumed someone recorded it. You should be able to find it somewhere. Good luck.
Uh-huh, "assumed".... How would I know that whatever I find is the one you watched? Seems like a fool's errand to look for more than a minute, which I did, but I was hoping that since you referred to "the" video that you had one particular video in mind. Did you watch the whole eight hours live? If so, congrats, that's quite a feat!

Who was the GOP representative that changed their vote on a bill only because a colleague filibustered? That’s not a very reliable politician if you ask me.

There’s not too many who were holding out. Who do you think it was?

It simply means that 8hrs and 44 minutes of bloviating does not help your cause, it just puts people to sleep and make others choose to vote against yu.

I hope they continue.
