This post has been reuploaded from a thread on a completely Christian forum by me. The original post was also by me, so if you happen to have seen this on another forum, this is a reupload.

For context, I'm 19 years old and male. A lot of my peers (including me) play video games, but where our similarities end is in the nature of what exactly we play. At one point in my younger teenage years (maybe 13-15?) I played a video game called Grand Theft Auto but stopped abruptly after. Never once have thoughts of homosexuality or sexual conduct in general really notably crossed my mind. I'm a teenager, of course I know about and understand sex, but the idea of actually partaking in it has never truly been something I've been too invested in, and I'm proud of that milestone against lust considering I've been abstaining since three years ago. And I would consider myself strictly heterosexual/straight. Until these recurring dreams started.

These dreams are usually almost entirely the same. One of the main protagonists from the game I mentioned earlier and I usually have some form of intercourse. I won't go into too many details for the sake of both my self respect and your mental wellbeing, but they're far from standard and don't seem very 'loving' at all, usually revolving around some form of disrespect being passed to me during the act. I doubt this could be a sign that I need to find a partner or work on my life - this feels more lustful than anything else. Don't exactly know why this particular character considering last time I touched the game chances are I couldn't even drive, but dreams are very strange sometimes so I'll excuse that particular bit. I looked up his name (I believe it's Trevor) and didn't find any direct ties to Satan or even the Bible as a whole.

This dream is certainly lustful, and I can't find any way to make it stop before I get tempted and potentially do something rash or before it successfully pushes its agenda onto me. If anyone could interpret what exactly (most likely) Satan or some other being is trying to tell me and what this spells for my future, because I'm beginning to grow accustomed to and even comforted by these dreams which is not good at all lol. I don't trust my judgement enough to go with my interpretation (something from my past/childhood is trying to turn me away from God).

TL;DR: Having a questionable/lustful dream that I believe Satan has some part in???

Hey friend,
Thanks for sharing something so vulnerable — that takes courage. I just want to gently offer another way to see this.

First, you’re 19. That’s an age where hormones are genuinely wild, and your brain is still figuring things out emotionally, sexually, spiritually, everything. Dreaming about something unexpected, even something sexual or uncomfortable, doesn’t automatically mean anything about your identity, your future, or your relationship with God. Sometimes a dream is just a dream — the mind playing out confusion, memories, or stray energy.

I know a lot of Christians were taught to fear our bodies and thoughts, especially anything related to sex or same-gender attraction. But I want you to know that you are not impure, and these dreams don’t make you sinful or distant from God. They're not evidence that Satan is trying to “get you.” They might just be your brain sorting through something random, or even just boredom and stress showing up in your subconscious.

And about Trevor from GTA, that character is a total agent of chaos, lol. He’s literally designed to be absurd and edgy. It makes sense your brain latched onto him as a symbol. But that doesn’t mean it’s meaningful in a spiritual warfare way.

God made your heart and mind, all of it. He’s not afraid of your dreams. He’s not ashamed of your body. He knows you, He loves you, and He walks with you through every stage of growth and self-understanding.

Take a deep breath. You’re not broken or under attack. You’re just human. It’s okay. God’s not going anywhere.

With peace and no judgment,
Magdalena

Sorry you are being tormented in your dreams. While it could be considered normal it seems veey spiritual to me as it obviously impacts you enough to post and continue to seek help. My suggestion is to learn more about your authority in the name of Jesus. That yes, you have the power through Christ to ward off evil dreams. Many prayers and deluverance confessions can be found online, including Catholic ones. Those can help but you should also look to shore up your defenses with scriptures and teaching about the authority Jesus gives every believer. It wilhelp improve your armor of God in both general and specific ways that will be oractical and important for you and also your help to others. God bless

Our brains work with what has been input to them regarding dreams, whether long ago or recent. If we input from this world, from video games ( dominated by males incidentally) then that's what it will work from to form the dreams. It can be pure fiction but the nuances are there. And I doubt the devil is working on you directly, but rather through that world system that influences you and me, after all he is called the prince of the power of the air, in scripture. He rules, within God's limitation, in this world system. But Satan is not omnipresent, he is not God , knowing all things everywhere at all times. So he has to use minions and infect this world through it's moral and spiritual fiber. So do we want to play with our minds set on the things of this world or the better things above ? Satans sole roles is to rob kill and destroy, Christ, His people and church.

The verse I like best states to draw nearer to God and He will draw nearer to you. James 4:8.

And it's true that if we are blood bought born again Christians, we have the authority in the name Jesus to thwart off the advances of evil, Satanic oppression etc. But we need to stay living in the Christian walk, not dance on the line. Again in the book of James it speaks of double mindedness. A good analogy of that is one foot in the world, one in Gods plan.

Be careful what you are feeding into your brain, and how much devotion is put into each. You want to be God and scripture heavy in your thinking, give no place to the devil. He gets too much credit as it is, when the deception is in our own hearts !

Demons are very real. The makers of those games aren't Christians. If they are not in the grasp of Christ, they are in the grasp of Satan & the flesh. When they make their games, they look to wickedness, not the Spirit. That same wickedness is attacking you. I used to get really strange dreams when I liked Game Of Thrones, surprise surprise, the creators have no fear of God. I suppose it may also be God's way of saying 'stay away from that'.

Other kinds of video games aren't necessarily bad, especially with other people, but they can become an idol. A couple hours a week is probably okay, but too frequently they become an addiction, & a Christian should be in the real world b/c his mission is in the real world. I believe video games are today's drugs.

The closer I get to God, the more Satan tries to pull me away. I have demonic dreams. I pray the Rosary nightly and listen to the bible on YouTube. We are in a spiritual war. We have to hang in there when the going gets tough and trust in God to help us through.
