How do we discern the voice of the Holy Spirit?

Those who follow men or man or whatever, are not going to do well , no, not at all.

"Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ." (2 Thessalonians 3:5)

This is included in God leading us. He is getting us out of self, into His own love, and here is where His leading is.

And my experience has been that first I could just stop at any moment, and trust God to guide me what to do next . . . what each footstep would be, and this could get pretty interesting . . . now knowing at each moment what God would do with me. But I was isolated . . . mainly getting my own self guided. And in me I was understanding that Jesus wants us not only to be with Him, miraculously guided at each moment. I could get self-righteous about being personally guided by God.

I needed my guiding to be deeper . . . in my heart being guided in loving.

And Hebrews 12:4-14 says we need how our Father corrects our character so we are like Jesus in love so we are pleasing to our Father like Jesus is so pleasing, and loving like Jesus . . . *all*-loving. I still need this.

And then I found God guiding me more, then, into how to relate with other Christians. There needed to be family relating with other children of God >

"submitting to one another in the fear of God." (Ephesians 5:21)

Now I see how God has us in mutual submission . . . how He guides our relating as His family. And in His family caring and sharing love, this is also all-loving love . . . for any and all people. In the praying of God's love, then, we are caring about any and all people . . . with hope for anyone to be with God in His own love and sharing as His family . . . adopted through Jesus on the cross > love "hopes all things" (in 1 Corinthians 13:7).

So, while we might be told of all the stuff of this world, our attention is guided by God to having hope for any person . . . our attention being guided, then, in prayer "for all men" >

"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men," (1 Timothy 2:1)

So, feed on God's word and trust Him for all His word guarantees He does with us. He feeds us, corrects us, and guides us in sharing with one another as His family.

This is not what you get yourself to do, but we submit to Him.

If your are going to guide your child, you need to feed your child and correct your child. And you need to bring up your child in a family with mature people to help your child to know how to relate in love. Plus, you help one another, your encourage each other to loving the way we are called >

"with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love," (Ephesians 4:2)

So, we can not get here without each other, since we are members of one another. We grow together, get stronger with one another, more real in love with each other.

Yes, we will need the "longsuffering"! There are "things" we will discover about one another. And this is why we need to keep our forgiving up to date, and be ready with hope for each other > love "hopes all things" (in 1 Corinthians 13:7) > never give up hope for yourself or anyone else, then.

Reunited with our Father, each and all siblings, some more worldly oriented than others needing a hand in reversing that misguided way thus triggering repentance.
Jesus’ gospel was the Kingdom alone focusing on the Father, our Father.
The HS was given as a guiding wind to that Kingdom and to nothing devised by the world of man

I think there is the person as an independent being with their own gifts and abilities that may be influenced by upbringing and various reasons and each person is an individual in that sense.

Sometimes just as a matter of life experience and problems that may also be influenced by upbringing it can be hard to determine what you are called to do. So we need to grow up to become clear about who we are and what we are good at.

I say what we are good at because I think God gives us gifts which w each have a talent in. I think so long as your dedicating that gift and work to God and for a purpose that is gong to help your family and community thats good.

But I think using money or material gain as the motivation though important as far as getting by should not be the priority. But in reality for some if not a growing number the money is just enough and becomes a priority when your living pay to pay. Especially if you have a family to look after.

Its hard in todays society which is all about money and material wealth. Its hard when there little work or your not skilled. Its very competitive,
But in reality Christ calls us to live poor to an extent and to help others.

I think within all this the holy spirit will reveal our calling and this may not be so clear at first and may change. I think as time goes on the aim is getting closer to more or less doing whatever you choose tyo do for God and helping others rather than yourself. But getting there is a journey in itself.

I have found as I got older I have looked for work that helps others. Even if thats sometimes doing stuff that sems unrelated to Gods work. Doing a job well and showing Christ in everything. But I have homed in on helping others directly and gearing my career towards that.

If thats legal or accounting that helps in a real way others then thats your gift. That may be for that time and this may change. If its not the right choice God will let you know through your conscience and conscious awareness. And sometimes we will make the wrong choice to find the right one.

I think of the holy spirit as that persistent voice or growing awareness such as conscience awareness of something related to your relationship with God and where you are at.

But we are also rational beings and part of becoming aware of what is the right way is reasoning out things in light of Gods word.

Generally I think its our conscience and conscious awareness of something that will persist or cause you to become aware of something that you must do or perhaps change. Sometimes I think its a gut feeling or intuition that may not have clear evidence but it persists and then seems like the right thing to do when all signs are pointing that way. God will reveal to us in time with pray if we put trust in Him.

I also think quietness is important. To stop and listen to God. Ask questions and then wait for God to bring to your conscience His word. Which is a good therapy anyway. To relax and walk and think and listen to your inner self.
