Will there be religion in heaven?

I guess that would depend on your definition of, or use of, "religion".

Years ago the thought came to me that the whole of life is about God, (and certainly not about me) —if so, how much more so, Heaven will be about God, where we finally see him as he is, in all his glory.

It depends what you mean by "religion". In the bible, Christianity is not called a religion. Religion is mentioned in our English translations. For example:

“If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.” (Jas 1:26 NKJV)

The Greek word it translates apparently refers to the external aspects of one's belief. We will be worshipping our great God in heaven, and although true worship, Jesus said, is spiritual, it does have external aspects. In that sense, there will be religion in heaven.

Yes, there will be religion. Notice Matthew 6:10 below. Earth should match heaven.

Matthew 6:9-10 (EXB edition)

9 ‘Our Father in heaven, ·may your name always be kept holy [T Hallowed be your name].
10 May your kingdom come and what you want [Your will] be done, here on earth as it is in heaven.

The kingdom of God (heaven) is coming to earth. You won't be in heaven, but rather you will be in the kingdom of heaven here on earth.
