The government doesn’t want to fund these programs anymore. If they could wipe them out tomorrow they would. When you start cutting healthcare, housing and food stamps you’re done. It may take awhile to whittle down but it isn’t a priority. Social security and medicare are going bankrupt in a few years. Change is on the horizon. They haven‘t announced it yet but they will.

Social security and Medicare along with the US itself is going to go bankrupt without reform. Keeping everything going as is, until it collapses, isn't much of plan.
