“The poll behind you, behind our ranking member, it adds up to 110 percent,” Jack said. “Just wanted to clarify, is it meant to add up to 110 percent or is that an error?”

Well apparently it was a typo from 57% in the original. The thing about typos is, if they get through to final you dont realize you did them. Still pretty careless.

You could say this points to a serious lack of math skills in general. I went to a place to order burger, fries, etc. The total came to $18.09. I figured perfect, I'd give $20.10 and throw $2.01 into the tip jar right there. Except the kid at the register had already entered in that I gave $20.00. He gave me back my dime and started handing me back $1.91. I kindly explained that if he took back my dime then he wouldn't have to sort out a bunch of coins. He was so flummoxed at doing very basic math without the register he just said, "It's easier this way."

I don't know if that's so much a lack of math skills as it is cashiers being unaccustomed to working with cash. Also, it can be annoying to edit the amount tendered - he could just give you the $2.01, but then his drawer is short 10 cents unless he voids the transaction and enters the actual amount you gave him.
