The Old Covenant law, the Ten Commandments
Exo 34:28 So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments.
Is the New Covenant law, just written on a better surface. From tables of stone to tablets of the heart, God keeping His promise to not alter His words Psa 89:34 not a jot or tittle Mat 5:18
2Co 3:3 clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.
God took His laws- which He already defined Exo 20:6 Deut 4:13 Exo 34:28
and now writes them in our heart so they become who we are
Heb 8:10 FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS IN THEIR MIND AND WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.
The New Covenant is established on better promises Heb 8:6- not established on better laws, because we can't make something written by our perfect Savior, His Testimony Exo 31:18 more perfect Psa 19:7
But there is a better promise from God on how we keep them, because He is the one enabling us to do so now, through our love and cooperation
Joh 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments.
Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
Joh 14:17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
Joh 14:18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
Why its still a sin to break the least of these commandments in the NC Mat 5:19-30 1 John 3:4 James 2:11-12
