  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A Jan. 6 defendant who was arrested for possessing illegal firearms and Army grenades had his convictions officially vacated and dismissed Wednesday as part of President Trump's Jan. 6 pardon order.

Jeremy Brown was convicted for his participation in the Jan 6 insurrection. During the investigation, feds discovered a bunch of illegal weapons including a couple of hand grenades he stole from the army. When Trump pardoned all the insurrectionists, this guy argued that the pardon covered his weapons convictions, too. Trump’s DOJ agreed.

This guy was only exercising his right to violently overthrow the government. Good on Mr Trump for letting him have another crack at it.

Since it looks like he was given a seven year sentence, he would've had another crack at it anyways. And since it's unlikely he'll take another carck at it while the current administration is in office, it'll average out the same as if he hadn't been pardoned.

Retired soldier charged in Capitol riot held secret military documents, feds say

A federal grand jury in Tampa last week returned an indictment alleging that Jeremy Brown had unauthorized possession of the documents, which relate to military activities that occurred in 2004 and 2005.

The new charges accompany previous allegations that Brown illegally possessed two guns and a set of hand grenades, which federal agents found when they executed a search warrant last year at his Tampa home.

A federal judge previously ordered Brown to remain detained pending trial, expressing concern over a profane handwritten sign he placed outside his home after an earlier visit from law enforcement. The sign stated that if they came back, they should “bring a bigger tactical package.”

Brown asserted in court that the sign was not a threat and said he detests violence.
